A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.

@toboldlygo@gwrrobmore lighting for the 94xx? I had to return my NRM 9400 as the orange light burned out or something. Locomotion has been a bit slow lately for answering emails. Bachmann informed me not to touch anything, as they haven’t developed any quick fixes, as it is a new product.

Glad the 16xx turned out good for you! Still a wonder how this passed so many check offs before going into production. Weathering will definitely hide your seams! How does this compare to the 94xx?

Also, I did ask in the 15xx thread if the non-branded 15xx will have a BR smokebox plate or not, incase anyone wants to have fun with painting. I know I will ;)

I know we were just on the subject of Night Owls, which I just happen to get mine today. The build is good on mine, not seeing any issues. I don’t have a track set up atm, but have a nice 10ft straight to run it back and forth, so no proper running in. Mine is super loud, like the motor is whining. At a realistic speed, it whines just a tiny bit. Is it supposed to be like that? I can tell it has a large flywheel, as I let off the power, it coasts a bit.

Also, these two bits were in the packaging, no idea where they go. I’m guessing under the cab somewhere?

They look like bits of either pipework or rodding.

So could be from under the loco boiler or under the cab.

I was thinking under the cab for at least one of them, as there is a glue spot and indent, but no piece attached.

What about running in quality? Or is that how all Heljan Night Owls are?

Here is a direct comparsion of the GWR 3rd Brake, Hattons vs Hornby. Hattons image from Hattons. Hornby image from Kernow.

I do really like what Hattons is showing us! The colours are more vibrant. Extra across the coach.

You don’t get jabs in the Trossachs, they’re called Jags up there.

:-)

I get mine at the races on Sunday.

Paul.

They look like  the injector overflow pipes that would be under/behind the cab steps. Can't see any on your loco but they seem to be there on others shown on a image search.

Sad to hear of the passing of Bigwordsmith, condolences to all who knew him.

Sadly, I'm going to have to return the loco as it the motor whines soo much, and no one has any idea how to fix it.

For a moment I thought it was you Phil!  There must be something in the air, Covid perhaps, as the HRCA has lost quite a few members recently.  Sad to learn of any of our fraternity going to their reward!
