Here's the first one after adding 3 hole wheels . I've weathered the interior even though I'm going to running it with a load of root veg/sugar beet as seen in that photo of the '57 Ivybridge goods. I've weathered the sides using the method used by military modellers which is the pin wash. The underframe used frame and track dirt from Lifecolor.

Nice work Robin ;)

These are lovely models and your weathering has brought the detail out nicely.

Cheers,

Mark

Better than I first thought and I'll be getting more. Also looking forward to the Eastern van that Oxford are doing.

Shewn before here's the casting for the sugar beet available unpainted singly or in packs of three from Ten Commandments. These are actually 62mm long which is too short for most open rtr wagons so I spliced the end off another one onto this one. There was much debate on the colour beet should be but I'm happy with my choice here.

Hi Rob

In the wilds of East Anglia, where the best beat comes from, the railways use to transport it in mineral wagons which in real life were 1 foot shorter than merchandise wagons. This possibly why the model load is shorter than most open rtr wagons.

Any help with the colour?

Hi Cap

Now I was told a story about a couple who moved from the West country to East Anglia. They had gone for a walk and saw  a big pile of turnips. They took a couple home. They took a long time to cook and did not taste nice.

Moral of the story,  do not steal a farmer's sugar beat.

One of my favourite little bits about the Oxford wagons is that you can position the brake lever to set the brakes 'on'. I recently picked up a bunch of the Oxford P.O wagons, spurred on by this I ordered some of the Tank wagons too.

Also looking forward to the NER van.

My take on the video is that the GWR version does.

Had a reply from Kevin at Dapol with my query.

Thank you for your enquiry but you are under a misapprehension as the model you are

Referring to accurately depicts a loco which kept its GWR livery well into BR Days.

We did Great Western and shirtbutton versions in the first batch, 4S-043-012 will be the GWR version.

Kind regards

What great news and don't we all need it , that the SDR is reopening on April 12th although passenger timetables won't begin till May 17th.

Here's small prairie 4555 shewing a symbol of hope at the end of the rainbow.

Lovely shot Rob. I don't much like garters on panniers but on the 45s it looks great.

Our last cup of tea at a cafe was sitting outside at Buckfastleigh almost exactly a year ago.  Maybe our next one too?
