Hello everyone

 

Passenger Brake Vans offer a wide variety of types and with the possibility of ‘branding’ for certain routes or trains. Perhaps of note is the fact that the Collett K38s ‘match’ the bow ended passenger stock which Hornby makes.

 

My own layout is based on the late 1950s/early 1960 and I could well use any of the Colletts as well as both the BR-built Monster and Siphon G.

 

So…

 

My choices are: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 & 12

 

My focused choices of PBV are: 3, 5 & 6. I feel that if the K41 was made, the K42 would ‘spin off’, so haven’t actually voted for it although I would buy it.

 

My focused choice of Monster is: 10 BR-built Inside Framed

Brake Van wise I havent got a great deal of them on the layout (Just the Milk Van, K17 for the TPO and a K18 toplight.  So any GWR designed PBV would be welcome.  On the Monster front, I have gone for the the outside frame version (seeing as I already have the inside framed on built from a kit), though in all honesty if I wanted another Monster I would be more likely to try and source another kit.

My focused choice of Monster is: 10.

 

Comments:

 

2 - would save me building two Mailcoach kits that I have had for a very long time.

Other PBVs - would save me building various Westdale/MTK/Comet kits.

10 - would go well with my other Kirk/Mailcoach kit-built versions.

12 - would go well with my modified Airfix and Lima versions.

Although I am 'the voice' on these Mini-Polls, my friends John, Chris and Ian work just as hard in the background to bring you as good a Poll as is possible. Many go through at least three drafts before we settle them. Much has to be balanced with the content of the others we have planned for you, and that sometimes means we have to change the running order.

My choices would be 2,3,4,5,7,10 & 12.

Focused PBV: 2,4 & 7

I only voted for one monster, so focused choice would be 10.

Reasoning: 2 lasted a long time and is something a bit different to the others so would add some more variety. 

3 & 4 seem to be very common so would be useful for a WR parcels train and appear in my research a fair amount.

7 for its conversion opportunities.

 

10 for similar reasoning to 2.

 

12 as mentioned in my response to the previous poll, is a key feature of WR parcels workings so is a must have.

You can vote for any or all of Items 1 to 12 inclusive plus comments for 13 and 14.

 

I have your comments on 13 and 14 but no actual votes for 1-12.

Yup; makes it look hump-backed and rather too 'chunky' for a Manor; however who am I to comment on a WR Loco?

The full brake has to be my favourite railway vehicle and they are so versatile and a case can be had for voting for all of them. However.

 

Can I vote for :

 

1,2,3,4,6,7 PBV.

 

8 Monster.

 

11 Bullion van.

 

12 BR siphon G.

 

My focused choices in no particular order, PBV  3,4,7.

 

My focused Monster is 8.

Hi

 

My interests are probably more 1930s orientated.  If anything was produced, I'd almost certainly buy it as I'm a discerning customer(!).  I'm not knoweldgeable enough to differentiate on different Monsters.  As such:

That went in late yesterday as a 'Stop Press' addition!  

 

I'm not a fan of them myself, but I have seen articles about them and suggested to The Team that we add them lest we were 'castigated for a vital omission'!

Yes I noticed that Brian. A vehicle that wasn't on my radar until recently when @toboldlygoof this parish built one for a client.

But in all honesty I would be likely to purchase almost any post 1920ish GW passenger brake van!

My choice: 12

Because I model BR blue and I assume that they were the only ones left in revenue service by then and it would save me from upgrading my lima versions.

If these numbers keep popping up I think you might need an adjudicator !
