A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.

Regular readers will  remember the troubling incident a few weeks back of a 1366 getting a bit carried away and not listening to its elders and betters (the Beattie Well Tanks).

Well(!), having seen an influx of similar silly WR locos, it seems appropriate to keep them carefully corralled. So it is with great fanfare and much waving of flags I present 3 new Western Region Engine Restrictors:

The 13xx's look much better when the buffers shanks have been shortened ;)

Yes, first thing I noticed was the overly long  buffer shanks. Perhaps the intention was to fill the gap to the overly long tension lock coupling?

Definitely on the hit list to fix.

Quick and easy fix, get some 3mm x 1mm styrene strip and make up some U shaped spacers to go around the buffer shank behind the buffer beam ;)

Spooky, that's exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of doing. Great minds....

Seven years now since the diverted ACE with 34066 ran through Brent and a lot has changed on and off the layout.

No it doesn't. It looks just as its designer, or his successors, intended. Smart, bright, clean.

Which what always disappointed my old man with Southern locos in the '40s, bl00dy filthy, unlike the GWR who always kept there's clean, just like their engines ;)
