A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.

I've got a couple pf Mr Hornby's version so the Dapol one is merely needless duplication as far as I'm concerned.    But then we sometimes seem to be living in an age of needless duplication as far as model railways are concerned which is great if they improve the breed but not so helpful otherwise.

And it appears that there are performance problems with the Dapol Prairie in that it has issues with negotiating pointwork possibly due to pick-up issues .

And this side of the Channel too. Over the last 3months I have been literally pig stuck with insertions of various kinds of needle and swab…yes THERE too….administered with a variety of competence by NHS staff.

Yesterday however was truly something else. After my open heart surgery….during which I am told I very nearly ceased membership of this august forum a complication developed in the form of a lump in the groin caused during surgery by the insertion of a wire connected to my heart. This nicked a vein which leaked to form a lump deemed to be potentially lethal….an aneurysm ( later deemed to be false but still trouble). I had the “blue light” ambulance experience from Burton to Stoke for a fix. This was achieved after two attempts by Ultrasound connected to a syringe by tubing. The needle filled with coagulating fluid to seal  the vein cut was injected into the said aneurysm by a doctor who was guided by the revelation  on screen after inserting the needle. We chatted amicably during the process and I watched it all on screen .Totally painless. It has worked fortunately and I am spared more surgery.

This is way off topic I know and not for the squeamish but it’s good to tell . Awaiting transfer back to Burton where a bed isn’t yet available. Never mind folks

Damn sight more interesting than reading some of the carp on the DCC Questions threads, where I no idea at all about what they are talking about almost all of the time. I can just about spell Decoder now and that is it really.  Stoke or Burton, ummm choices choices. Could be worse,  Barnsley or Uddersfield!

Sounds like they are having fun with your wiring then? Any Servos included?

Take care.

Thinking ahead with these and if the sales are good than maybe they'll be encouraged to something top polling off @BMacdermott and teams wish list.;) If you read their newsletter there are several wagons ready to go to tooling that haven't been announced yet too.

I only hope we don't start getting rolling stock duplications all over the place.  I've already dropped a hint to 'someone' not to bother with something they were thinking about which they mentioned to me because 'another someone' is way ahead of them on that particular item.

And with the greatest respect they all seem to have their own problems / discrepancy's.

Possibly not next year ( though of course it probably will be)  for the Dapol Manors. My local trainset emporium has, last week, been advised of their impending arrival.

Typical Dapol approach of not shewing the model before release and relying on Hatton's/Rails et al to take the photos.:scratchhead:
