A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.

I've really enjoyed catching up on a Nod to Brent Robin. I do like the cattle workings!

You just need some ex LMS vans in that train!

Very nice Nick, can you still get those David Geen kits.

Cheers Robin,

Not easily. These are the Parkside version of the same thing. The David Geen kit allows you to build different doors, but that is it.

I feel we need a good GWR cattle van of some sorts, long overdue!

Kind regards,

Nick.

My late father was called Douglas.....my mum use to shout at him Dug-Less, so he did and let her do the garden.

But it is all true.

My dad was called Douglas.

My mum done the garden, she still does.

And when the poor old fellow had done something wrong (again) the cry of "DUG-LESS" could be heard two streets away.

I once nearly knew a man nicknamed Doug the Thug. He was CEO, I think, of a major shopping centre owner and developer. I knew his wife rather better, having worked for her. She was also a senior sort of person with surveyor qualis. When his company car was due for replacement, he was offered it for a cash price. I was asked what an E-Class Merc estate might be worth. I divined from various adverts what it might go for, and, as good Scots, they bought it and sold it at a profit, making a couple of thousand pounds, I suspect.

My father called me Douglas for the last two years of his life, dying at 99. Apparently his best friend at school in 1905- 1910 was called Douglas, so I guess I was flattered. William’s chums in the Outlaws were Ginger and Douglas, so that’s why I was wundrin’ ....

That third shot in your last post is a real winner Rob.  Even the loco looks good.

Hope you feel better soon.
