I think there was a record called In a Forest? Was it The Cure? On phone so CBA to do a search. Love the wagons Rob.

For those of you with time on your hands; all 13 1/2 minutes of it...

Why are Bass players always weird?

A. Snaredrum.

I wouldn't have called the Ox weird, John Entwhistle, or Jack Bruce for that matter. The proprietor of the Model Shop in Exeter is a bass player. Norman Watt-Roy is adifferent kettle of fish.

Nothing weird this afternoon as we see some pannier action. 9717 takes the branch B set off to Kingsbridge.

Being pedantic, Rob,

Unless the GWR had a fundamentally different arrangement for describing its trains, your lovely little loco and B set appears to be a 'pick-up goods'.

I'd say that's weird!

I do enjoy this layout thread. Unlike on my own trainset, it would appear that everything in/on it is all your own work. I commend you.

Regards,

Tony.

Of course you're right Tony but in my defence the loco is on loan from a friend. I shall change it immediately if not sooner.;)

Loco lamp position corrected and we see a few more shots of pannier 9717 on the branch. A pair of gangers, Augustus and Arthur, stand back to let it pass.

Not quite,  the lamp position is centre top, in this case on top of the smoke box. thecurrent position is for a light engine.  Sorry for being a pedant.

I thought either centre position was correct .

Sorry to disillusion you,  but if you Google warickshire railways.com and click on the Misc tab you should find the list which covers  from 1914 to 1936 or Google GW loco lamp positions for later  than that. Auto coaches didn't have brackets to display proper lamp codes and so used the lower position.

Not able to do the links,  sorry.

OK, I suppose you have been busy getting the lamps in the right position.....!

Hopefully these will help those already stranded on the beach!

No excuses now for having the wrong lamps, with the two above posts that cover most of the GW "narrow gauge" period. and I don't think there was much change in the BR(W) period until the buzz boxes got the high intensity headlight(s).

1950 (from memory) saw a number of changes to consolidate the former companies' practices.

Edit: May 1950 according to The Stationmaster, who is usually right:

Augustus. " Fancy a pint in the Packhouse Arthur, all this graft has given me a thirst."

Arthur." I read on RMweb from that Captain character that it's a salubrious establishment that's best avoided."

Augustus."  Don't believe everything you read online, it's your round and mine's a pint of scrumpy."
