Picked up the new 2020 Hornby catalogue today and was intrigued by this toad I had missed in last years announcement. Late GWR with no branding. So why did it not come up on my radar I wonder.

It’s a nice looking toad as well! Better yet, no branding! I had just bought this recently too

Interesting that the GW and numbers are different on the model to the one on Hornby's website.

Well, it would seem that yesterday my mate Jesse was "mainly not concentrating" !

He thought he had finished his Cattle Wagon when he noticed that the sign writer had a lapse in concentration.  ( 3 )

He will be going back at some point to rectify his mistake prior to which a planned visit to his optician is on the cards.

Yours,

Not Jesse.

The Pannier Papers No.3 is useful purchase, but having 'enhanced' a few of them (from Mainline, Replica & Bachmann) - the top bracket sits on top of the smoke box usually ;)

Indeed, and the actual model does in fact sport GWR freight grey - not the unusual 'blue' grey on the Hornby website image.

Just my luck to snap-up three of the previous toad issue (large GW insignia branded Rogerstone) from Rails in their sale 18 months ago to re-brand into post-1936 Toads, right before Hornby announce this post-1936 liveried one anyway!

Oh well, at least it gives me some modelling to do!

Anybody have any thoughts on this announcement by Hornby of the ex- Oxford Rail GWR water tower. [R7284] I've never seen a decent photo of the one at Brent to wonder if it was of some use.

Looks too tall to me, and not wide enough.

here’s my effort, utilising a Ratio tank on a scratch built building.  It’s a little too wide I think thanks to the use of the ratio tank.  The brick section was cut with my Silhouette cutter.

There was a great model shown on the old rmweb (I can’t remember the builder)

Like this larger tank in Swindon? (on Penzance Drive)

Historic England says it was the Pattern Store and Water Tank.

Recently (until May 2017), Bottelino's Italian Restaurant, but now closed.

It might be redeveloped into office space, like other GWR buildings all around the Steam Museum.
