Any further thoughts on the Prairie,Robin ?

The jury is still out Ian but some of my thoughts can't be written on a family read forum without being moderated.:o

To the ignorant like me it looks lovely - but I like mis-shapen locos that run well much more than I like pretty ones that don't deliver. Is it detail or mech that is causing you grief?

I wouldn't call it grief as at the end of the day it's a toy train but the running quality is poor as compared to my straight out the box Bachmann pannier.

Au contraire - as they apparently say hereabouts - you have spent your money and deserve something that runs well, as a minimum. They have been in the business of making these models for some years, I believe .

Here it is for comparison.

I seem to remember that the roof profile in the kit is a bit suspect. Just don't run them next to each other...

Don't you just love the Bachmann brake gear. Surely they should have made the parts do they can't be fitted to the wrong side. Chop the levers off Robin and swap the side each is fixed to. The side in the photo should have the clutch.

Tell me, Ann, did you ask them for directions to the nearest coin operated chocolate machine?

That's rather Sweet of you to ask, I'm surprised Rob didn't ask me either !

I didn't bother asking as the weather was too warm and I would have only ended up in another sticky situation.

However on the way back the chips in Hexmuff were lovely.
