I want a nice smooth dull blue/black finish. First I clean the etch using a nail buffer. I pour some Carr's Metal Black (other blackening fluids are available) into a flat shallow container and immerse the etch in it for no more than 30 seconds. I then take it out, dry it by dabbing with kitchen roll, rinse it well under the cold tap and let it dry. Once it's dry polish it up with more kitchen roll. Oh, and you can re-use the Metal Black several times before it loses its effectiveness. No photo of the flat etch I'm afraid but here's one of a fret's worth of made-up couplings: When I saw this the the other day, I immediately thought @St Enodoc has dug out his copy of Fly Fishing by J R Hartley... https://youtu.be/CeicexenTmU 1 1

RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted September 30, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 30, 2020 Such a shame that the WSR isn’t running during this pandemic as we would have patronised them today whilst in the area. A couple of vans sat forlornly at the entrance to Minehead station, one had a WD number. 13 1
