A Nod To Brent - Fun , friendly, frivolity and happy days in the South Hams 1947.

Looking at Robin's wagon photos it saddens me that the RTR manufacturers do not produce a GWR 5 1/2 plank open or an LMS/BR 5 plank open with wrinkly tin ends  but leave us with a generic 5 plank wagon that is not  even a model of the LMS all wood, or the SR ones made for the LNER at the end of WW2.

Phil (Mallard) asked me to post this here, hope thats ok Rob.

Its the WSRs 40th Aniversary special on Saturday evening.

2 Manors plus 14 coaches. ie 2 x 5 coach sets from the days service, plus the 4 Quantock Belle Diners.

Pic was at Blue Anchor on the return trip, complete with some lady dressed in Edwardian(?) garb, including parasol.

Good to see they can still put on a show, inspite of their impecunious state. Its the volounteers that do it, and they

deserve our support. As long as they can avoid further bouts of the infighting that seems to have recurred over the years.

Always happy to post a teaser of something new coming soon. This came about thanks to the generosity of a follower of this thread and the use of another Shapeway product.:imsohappy:

Highly perceptive. It isn't. It's a brown clerestory, whatever that is.

The reason I said compo, is because the panel above the Crest is bigger than the one in the middle between the two sets of windows.

I'm not sure of the diagram but it has 7 compartments and uses this body available as a spare from Peter's https://www.petersspares.com/Hornby-l5528-long-clerestory-coach-body-moulding-unpainted.ir

I think it’s a C15 - originally a composite but converted to an all third later

2nd class compartments downgraded to thirds.

The brick extension to the funnel looks a little out of loading gauge.

Brent is in Devon.

Also in Devon is Kenton, which will be the location of another Chinese meal for those who wish to attend.

Please forgive the blatant promotion of this event, but I have arranged another gathering at the Chinese restaurant 'Chi', in Kenton, near Starcross, for the evening of Friday 28th June next. More details here -

Thank you.
