A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.

The late, great Peter Gray photos have been acquired by The Transport Library and I was very taken by the van in this photo. Any idea what it is please ?

Thanks for the heads up, looks like there are a few photos which are going to help me with the cutting towards Kingbridge.  Just a shame the majority seem to be from the 60s, must find time to do some digging as to whether there are any 1947 photos.

As well as the lovely to build kit that Colin has linked to, those of a lazy persuasion may want to buy a RTR one by Bachmann

I have both and they are as good as each other. I use to have a Ks plastic kit of one as well. I think Hornby Doublo and later Wrenn did a similar CCT...again both are available from Parkside and Bachmann.

I have the Bachmann model but I thought the one in the photo was different.

Here's a nice old stone barn at Stidson, just up the road from Brent:

Very model-able, I think.

Very modellable indeed, when I next go out to the garage I might just have a look at a corner of the layout...

With the London end of my brent curving to the south rather than the north it leaves a much bigger space to fill than the real thing.....

Very apposite, because this barn is to the east of Brent and to the south of the railway!

Following discussion with long time Southern van expert Graham Muz , he suggested marrying the ends of one kit with the sides and chassis of another. PC36 & 39. Here's the van in question close up.

Now we have the bigger picture it is an uneven planked one or as Mike King calls them 2 +2 planked. Again Parkside or Bachmann do them.

And before anyone mentions Specsavers, they had more of my model railway tokens than I expected just over a week ago. I can see better.

I have no interest in buying a conservatory.

I'm not interested in that ad.

OK, Google, you'll 'try not to show that ad again'.

What bolleaux.

Bolleaux?  Au contraire ,  Mon ami. J'adore les conserves, surtout les fraises.
