That works out at nearly 33 sheets Peter, I think I'll wait for Rail's to do one.:jester:

Yes Rob,I forgot to factor in the overseas postage, plus if HMRC see the parcel, they will have their bite out of you too!

It didn't last long mind, gone by this morning Perth time on BIN, I had looked at getting one but I don't believe they lasted too long after WW2, dawn of the jet age..? Anyone who can show they lasted past the mid-1950's please let me know. Interesting water tank wagon in the range too.

Cheers from Oz,

Peter C.

More Cromwell fun.
Changes made, model reassembled, and given a basic coat of olive drab:

Somewhat better, I think.

Compare:

After this some decals, some extra detailing (stowage, tools, maybe a towrope) and weathering.

Nice work, it does need bits and bob's adding.

In the mean time I'll raise you a Churchill ;)

Their quality is excellent as is their packing and dispatch time.  And unique models command a higher price than something you can get from your local shop or box-shifter.

HMRC was onto my order like a tramp on chips, but I had factored this into my "is this worth the ££ I'm paying to have it?" calculation.

I will match your bid....

Smaller model, but needs a lot of work. For those not in the know, this Churchill kit was first released in 1960, the fuel trailer was added 40 years later... But will be a while, currently working on this:

Rescued from a wreck. That Churchill better watch out....
But maybe we should start our own thread on Military modelling. :scratchhead:

If anybody can show me how to line up the bogies on that Airfix Churchill, so that all the units locate accurately on both sides, you will have, at the very , least, my undying gratitude. Maybe we should have our own thread though?

best,

I've got the Airfix Vintage 1/76th Scale Churchill Mk.VII in my stash ;)

Tamiya's 1/48th Scale Crocodile Version is a stunning kit...

Hmm funny you should mention 28xx's..

Hornby never did get round to doing the curved front end running plate on this model. I would buy one if they did.:read:

All depends on the purchase price and shipping price.

On the CROCODILE L kit I think i paid about £20/£25 before it would be released and delivered.

You had me wondering then as I was sure I had seen one.   have never seen a green one, but not a big job to take the smokebox numberplate off and repaint.

Exactly what I am doing on my latest 28XX project.   Unlined green is an easy transformation.  Don't forget to add bufferbeam numbers in lieu of the smokebox ones.

Maybe so Mike but I'm surprised by Hornby not offering it in GWR green with the curved front ends. A bit short sighted if you ask me.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what does "curved front ends" mean?

Over the cylinders Keith, a side view shows either a square or curved front end depending on number.

Curved or square?  It is interesting that the newbuild Saint has the original style ends as many have probably never seen an original.  The new old County was built in the curved era, a style we are all familiar with and probably better from an aesthetic point of view especially on a shorter 4-4-0.
