A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.

No I’m actually early as there’s probably a pigeon van being announced on Monday.

'there’s probably a pigeon van being announced on Monday.'

Is there?

Great picture (typical AY, and great modelling as well), but wouldn't both the Hall and the Prairie have screw shackles?

Regards,

Tony.

I'm being my usual facetious self Tony. I know nothing.;)

Since that 2016 photo the Hall has received a new livery and identity plus a screw link. However, 5551 doesn't usually run that way as you can see by the loco lamp on the smokebox. I remember just putting any old coupling on the hook for the shot in question.

But vital, Brian?

I dip into this most-popular thread regularly, because it contains so much good modelling, and doesn't go off too often into 'daft' things. It's amusing and educative, which is why I follow it.

I suppose I'm speaking as a photographer here. I'll compose/take model railway pictures on some layouts and, on processing them, 'realism' is ruined (in my opinion, of course) by a gross, tension-lock coupling protruding from underneath a buffer beam or, a  lack of lamps or incorrectly-displayed ones!

Rob's are far less obtrusive.

Regards,

Tony.

Hi Tony, I am also a regular dipper into this thread although it has little in common with my tinplate trains.  Even in my OO days, I was content to run OOTB as my modelling skills are not that great but enough to please me.  Therefore, please don't take my cynical comments to heart - I am always impressed by the fine calibre of modelling as shown on ANTB.  Plus I know the area fairly well, at least as it was years ago.:smile_mini2:

How about a 'Grandfathers Special', Robin, to celebrate Grahame's good news?

I thought it was an unwritten rule that all GWR modellers had a Dean Goods. Most shocked.

As it is a celebration of a new member of the next generation of puffer nutters wouldn't a broken down class 800 be more fitting.

No Dean Goods well I never. :fie:

Maybe slightly a few days after the Chrimbo but my other Grandson wouldn't complain :drink_mini:

It just so happens to be his favourite locomotive too.

"O" for another Dean Goods !

Robin, you seriously need to get yourself one for ANTB as Clive quite correctly says, " I thought it was an unwritten rule that all GWR modellers had a Dean Goods ".

Thank you all very much for the kind comments, I appreciate them all.
