RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted July 31, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 31, 2020 I wish all rtr tank engines were as easy to install a crew as the Bachmann 8750 class pannier. Here's a shot of the motor used whilst the body was removed. 9 1

mattingleycustom
Rob, The plain black with GWR sits well on the Pannier; put some etched numberplates on it and it will look just about perfect. Glenn 2

Many thanks and hope you all be OK? P All well here, Phil, and I hope it's the same with you. I've got a black Prairie and I'm quite pleased with it. There are more notes over on my MCL topic but, in brief, apart from a bit of a wobble which doesn't seem so bad on the track as it seemed to be on the rolling road, it runs nicely. and looks good. As others have reported, the front pony truck has very little vertical movement so I fitted a slightly longer M2 screw and a washer. I had some decoder challenges but that's nothing to do with Hornby. Overall, let's say 8 out of 10. Hope that helps. 3

RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted August 1, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 1, 2020 As one who is by no means convinced about weathering of locos and stock - although I do like it on buildings - the shiny Prairie offers different degrees of realism in different shots. The slightest hint of flatting the shine on the boiler and smokebox would be quite sufficient, I think.

Not at all because if it survives my testing and the motor lasts I'm hoping to turn her into 4133, in wartime ,unlettered black. As seen at Totnes in The Prairie Papers.
