Re-gearing Hornby 0-4-0's...

Some time ago on one of the forums (not necessarily this one) someone had researched an alternative gear set in attempt to tame Hornby's little racehorses down to a more realistic speed range.

 

From memory the gear codes recommended to replace the standard X8004 set were given as X8042 and S8042 (supposedly from a DMU).

 

Unfortunately the X.num relates to a bogie pivot clip and the S.num is not found, so I wonder if anyone has any data about these gears such as data sheets detailing pinion shaft bore and spur bore and number of teeth, etc such that a direct comparison could be made.

 

I've tried HCC. Specialist spares suppliers have alternative gear sets but little or no data to use for comparison.
