Bellinzona

You were rather lucky with the weather, Re6/6.

My first visit to Bellinzona was on a wet day in May 1981.  Photographing any moving trains was only just about possible on that day.

Main objective was to see the Ae4/6 class, at the time restricted to Bellinzona.  Not the ideal conditions for hand-holding with a 200mm lens.

A couple of visits later, May 1998, the weather had improved slightly, but there was still an abundance of UV.

Electric railcar of the Ferrovia Retica (we are in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland, of course), formerly of the RhB.

Hope to be heading there this summer, so thanks for the pics. Any good views from the castles?

And was the RhB thing for a branch that's now closed?

The RhB thing was a completely separate line (although intended to join up with the RhB eventually), that was mostly closed, but is still operated as a tourist line:

Thanks, John and Eddie, for the pictures, a nostalgic remainder of the days when I modelled the SBB in 'N gauge' in an 8 x 6 shed :)   A simple exercise given the range available - just the Ae 6/6 from Minitrix, Re 4/4" from Arnold, and the Rbe 4/4 from Lima.  Happy days !!

Hopefully we are back on the RhB, GEX and BEX, in July :sungum:

THis is looking south from castle on the east side. I have video-d southwards from here as far as the next station Giubiasco. The view north isn't so hot. I don't think you can get very close to the edge of the hillside.post-5683-0-48442200-1365193541_thumb.jpg
