Hi Nigel

Nice pictures both of real & model trains.....

I don't know any exhibition managers well & am not a member of a club but I shall certainly mention your name/layout to those managers that I meet when exhibiting as I should certainly like to see Melangoose one day......

As regards Hornby class 08/09......I have two & my son one......Although Penhallick Junction is analogue all three have run faultlessly all day during exhibitions until their wheels get quite grubby......Indeed if they show signs of playing up at all a quick wheel clean & off they go again as good as new.....

Hope to catch up with you again one day......

Cheers Bill

Good luck with the exhibition Nigel, its a bit too far for me to travel with the 3 boys, sadly.

How about Aldershot to see the warren Lane fellas?

Sorry Nigel hope the exhibition is a good one.

Hi

At the kind invitation of my friend Steve Jones, I was asked if I would like to run some of my modern stock (normally runs with steam era stock) on a layout he has built with some fellow modellers.  The layout is based on an actual location, (which I know very well) and I must say I was "blown away", this is a masterpiece and it captures the location so well.

If you would like to see Sydney Gardens (with steam era running) it will be at Calne in January 2015 and Warminster in March 2015.

Hi Nigel,

What a superb layout, the weathering on the stone wall is brilliant. I would love to see a Banger blue class 33 and some old MK1s storming past on Bristol train.

Thanks for posting up the pics.

Cheers Peter.

Hi

Pete - I will ask next time I visit if I can take a 33 in blue and take some pics for you

2FSPete - There are some pics of the Blue toped CDA's on Melangoose page 2, as for the original clay hoods, I will speak to my Dad as I know that he has some.

In the meantime so more pics of Sydney Gardens for you to enjoy

Hi

Couldn't resist the temptation for a First Great Western Class 150, I must say that they have done a fantastic job.

A totally up to date scene at Melangoose.

Although at Exhibitions we run with stock from the 2000-2003 timeline, I must admit that I am drawn to the current liveries, this maybe as this is what you see everyday on the railway.

Interchange time with the local bus service.

66068 awaits the road with a couple of Cargowaggons

Melangoose will be at the Stafford Exhibition at the end of the month.

Hope to see you there! (If Dad decides to take me! :P)

Really looking forward to it, it will be great to see it 'in the flesh'.

Pictures are looking great too, I'd say go present day, you get most of the stock from 2000-2003 anyway, and there are always preservation groups for the 'older' stuff. Just my opinion!

Thanks,

Jack.

Hi

As always I appreciate your comments, but for now Melangoose will be staying at the 2000-2003 era when at shows.

I would miss my 37's and solitary 47, it is so nice to see them on the layout "mixing it with the new generation" (66's). I know if Melangoose was up to date you could maybe get away with one on an inspection coach, but I am trying to recreate theb time when the wrighting was on the wall, but heritage loco's (as we now call them) could be seen on active service, as supposed to one-offs.

If I went up to date then my favourite (150265) would have to be pensioned-off, and that's not going to happen.

I know that Hornby have announced an FGW 153, maybe in the future we could think about 2 different timelines at the same show, a set of stock for the Saturday and another for the Sunday.

Regards

Nigel

That Sydney garden scene is crying out for a large logo 50, or a 31/4......

I'd say stick with the period you like anyway. Present day in Cornwall is BORING ! No two ways about it.

FGW units, FGW HST, DBS 66,,,,,,,,,, that's about it.......runs for cover...

You forgot the voyagers... ;)

And rare but occasional xc hsts.

Don't forget colas 70's too. Big Jim the colas driver has a feed on Rmweb and he's featured in last few days colas 70's on the St Ives branch
