Here are some pictures of the Union Pacific in Biggs Junction, Oregon. I took some pictures at this location while heading to Portland about three days ago. Biggs Junction is next to the Columbia River; about 100 miles(160 kilometers) east of Portland via the Interstate 84(I-84) freeway at the U.S. Highway 97 junction.

This post was (quite obviously) meant to be in the "When the real thing looks like a model" topic, to which I have moved it.

Here's three pictures of a train crossing Lake Pend Oreille in Sandpoint, Idaho. In the first two pictures, the BNSF Railway is crossing the lake. In the third picture, Amtrak's Empire Builder is running the show. Sandpoint is about 85 road-miles(136 road-kilometers) northeast of Spokane, Washington via the Interstate 90(I-90) freeway and U.S. Route 95(US-95).

Here's a picture of a Union Pacific train running underneath the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in Tacoma, Washington. This twin suspension bridge complex carries Washington State Route 16(SR-16 or WA-16) for automobiles. Tacoma is about 32 miles(51.2 kilometers) south of Seattle via the Interstate 5(I-5) freeway.

Here's a picture of a Alaska Railroad passenger train in Willow, Alaska. This special ski train is moving southbound to Anchorage. Willow is about 72 road-miles(115.2 road-kilometers) north of Anchorage via Alaska Routes 1 and 3(Glenn and Parks Highways, respectively). The snow-covered Denali is in the background of this picture. At 20,310 feet(6,190.488 meters) above sea level, Denali is the tallest mountain summit in the entire North American continent.
