Nice picture of the Big Boy in the Greater Los Angeles area. In the picture, the Ontario Freeway(Interstate 15 between Las Vegas and San Diego) is on the left-hand side and the Devore Freeway(Interstate 215 to San Bernardino/Riverside) is on the right-hand side.

Here's a couple of pictures of a Canadian Pacific train in Lytton, British Columbia, Canada. The train is running next to the Thompson River in its namesake canyon. Lytton is about 166 miles(265.6 kilometers) northeast of Vancouver via the Trans-Canada Highway Route 1.

Here's three pictures of a train in Phelan, California within the Cajon Pass. The first picture features Union Pacific's Big Boy steam locomotive. The second picture is a standard UP freight train. The third picture features the Southern Pacific. All three pictures have a train running next to the Mormon Rocks. Phelan is a suburb in the Greater Los Angeles area.

The abandoned bridge to the right and the one below the current bridge appear to be part of an abandoned line. Would this be the original railway or another line altogether?

I would think that the turns either end of the bridge would be far to tight for a railway. The bottom one is almost 90º in the length of one of the freight cars behing the loco.
