I think this location is Canadian National's equivalent of Canadian Pacific's "Morant's Curve":

BNSF below Chuckanut Mountain in Washington State:

There's a road on the hill above the railway, but good viewpoints are hard to find/reach.  There once was an interurban some distance offshore here:

Here's another picture of a Chicago Transit Authority "L" train in Chicago. This rush-hour train is running down the median of the John F. Kennedy Expressway(Interstate 90 freeway) with the John Hancock Center in the background. The "L" train is heading westbound to Chicago-O'Hare International Airport.

Been on those trains a number of times 'flying' past all the stationary traffic in both directions.

I have ridden on the CTA subway and "L" many times myself. The CTA and Metra has an amazing network of rail lines in Chicagoland.

Here's three pictures of CTA's Tower 18 junction in the Downtown Chicago Loop. This junction has four perpendicular diamonds that are used by the "L" trains and is one of the busiest railroad junctions in the world. Tower 18 is at the intersection of Lake and Wells streets.

I think that train was a special excursion/fan trip. Those cars have been out of regular service for many years. Still, it is nice to see a public agency with a sense of its own history; the TA in New York does also.

CTA had used these Cincinnati Car Co. 4000 Series cars for their 70th anniversary in 2017. They had refurbished these historic passenger cars.

Here's two pictures of the Union Pacific in Salt Lake City, Utah. In the first picture, the Utah State Capitol building is in the background. The second picture has the Downtown Salt Lake City skyline in the background. Both pictures have the Wasatch Mountains in the background. I will be in the Salt Lake City area this weekend for the National Model Railroad Association(NMRA) model train show. The model train show will be in suburban Sandy, Utah which is about 10 miles(16 kilometers) south of SLC. To all of you soccer lovers: Sandy is the home of the Real Salt Lake team in Major League Soccer.

We are currently in SLC attending the convention but depart Saturday. Its been hot here at 100 F so we rode the Front Runner yesterday to keep cool in the aircon. there is still snow on some of the peaks that we can see from our room.

Attending the trainshow this morning. Will try and set up a thread for it later if I take any photos.

A few photos taken yesterday in Provo.

Yes, it has been very hot lately in Salt Lake City, Ian! It has been very hot in Southern Idaho where I live. I live about 200 miles(360 kilometers) from SLC.
