I took some pictures at this location while heading to Portland about three days ago. Biggs Junction is next to the Columbia River; about 100 miles(160 kilometers) east of Portland via the Interstate 84(I-84) freeway at the U.S. Highway 97 junction. The second picture features the BNSF Railway. In the first two pictures, the BNSF Railway is crossing the lake. In the third picture, Amtrak's Empire Builder is running the show. Willow is about 72 road-miles(115.2 road-kilometers) north of Anchorage via Alaska Routes 1 and 3(Glenn and Parks Highways, respectively). The snow-covered Denali is in the background of this picture. This mainline is owned by the Norfolk Southern Railway, but the train is led by a BNSF and Union Pacific locomotive.
