Sunday April 21st sees Amberley Museum’s Spring Industrial Trains event, primarily aimed at the enthusiast.

Much of the collection will be out and about with the opportunity to get close up and personal with some very rare locos.

We hope to have a visiting diesel loco from Bredgar and it will be interesting to see if anyone can work out the connection with a diesel loco in the Amberley collection! On the standard gauge demonstration line we should have the Simplex 4wDM loco ‘Burt’ in action at various time during the day.

Our popular ‘Behind-the-Scenes’ tours will take place, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, but for the first time we will be able to offer visitors (over 18’s of age) hands-on experience of a true industrial railway.

Our ‘Driver-for-a-Fiver’ scheme will allow two trips at the controls of an internal combustion loco along a stretch of line not normally accessible, or seen. Under the accompaniment and guidance of an experienced driver, there will also be the opportunity for photographs to be taken, and we hope that this will raise much-needed funds to continue our work in restoring and maintaining the collection. As always, this is subject to availability of locos and volunteers (and weather!)  but we hope to have two locos available for this. Slots will be bookable on the day.

We look forward to meeting old and new friends.

Details of our collection and activities can be found at  http://www.amberleynarrowgauge.co.uk/
