Two more class 50 photos from the collection, unfortunately I don't have dates on these two.

50018 "Resolution" on what looks like a Plymouth bound local service. Probably a class 118 DMU in the Newquay platform in the background.

Good evening,

Some progress on the track work has taken place this weekend. The two main running lines on board 1 have been laid and the sleepers for the turnout towards the Newquay bay platform have been glued into position. I've also cleared down the layout as it needed a spring clean from all the books and magazines that whave been laid on top of it over the last few months.

I'm pleased with the current progress and hope to continue at a good pace.

Here are a few progress shots with 37196 heading through with a rake of CDA's in tow.

Looking good Jeremy. Always nice to see progress. The trains go a long way to show how big the final layout is going to be!

Cheers Cav. I'm not sure why my last post went in twice. Par will be approximately 4m long once finished as I have had to add some extra room each end for the return curves as I plan to have close coupled rolling stock sets which will require a gentler curve.

More track work tonight!!! And maybe continue some more work on the platforms. Can't wait to start getting some greenery on the layout, it looks so bare at the moment.

Looks to be exactly the same length as Miller Dale will be. My return curves will be pretty tight though (2nd and 3rd radius) hidden under the hillsides. I too extended my layout from 12ft to 13 and a bit as I was never happy with the way it rushed into the tunnel to the left of the station.

Good evening,

I spent a couple of hours this afternoon working on the track work to the Eastern end of Par. After a coupe of minor problems with the common crossing were ironed out, a suitable turnout leading to the Newquay bay was made.

I'll finish this section tomorrow and then I'm going to make a start on the St Blazey templot plan.

Photos to follow.

Best regards,

Jeremy

I think i have mentioned it before, but  at least until "recently" there was a framed architects drawing of the front of  The Royal at the left hand end of the bar in the Royal....

I remember you mentioning this. I've made some rough measurements which I think won't be too far off the real thing. I'm also having some etched windows and doors made up for the model so hopefully it will look really good once done. More to follow.

Best regards,

Jeremy.

  • 2 weeks later...

Good afternoon,

Spent some time last night painting the rails a rusty colour, not the most interesting of jobs but it has certainly started to make a difference to the appearance of the track. Next will be to paint on a coat of watered down sleeper grime before a final dry brush of sleeper grime across the tops of the rails once the ballasting has been done.

I've also started painting the island platform canopy and supports and continued work on the platform surfaces. More slabbing to come!!!

I'll try and get some pictures over the weekend as by the time I get home from work, there's no natural light left to take a decent set of photos.

And finally, I've officially confirmed my attandance at the Hayle Model Railway Exhibition which takes place on the 23rd and 24th May 2015. I'm really looking forward to exhibiting Par there and being in Cornwall for it's first outing couldn't be more appropriate.

Best regards,

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

Looking good and also your first show planned, currently painting the rail sides on Dallam and to say its boring is an understatement, but as you say it does make a difference. The blue 87 and mk3's sound good for 'occasional' running. :sungum:

Cheers

Simon

Cheers Simon. I do like the 87's and they aren't to bad a model. I agree with you on rail painting, very boring but worth the effort.

Best regards,

Jeremy
