I'll have to keep an eye open for you as you seem to be coming my way more often these days I'm back in tomorrow morning at 0400 for a spare turn as the original man has come back from being on jury service.

Cheers

with the 47 unit move. I thought normally that sort of move would have barrier wagons. or is that not the norm now?

GBRF have three class 47s (47 727, 739, 749) which are fitted with translator and dellner couplings so can work with the Anglian stock without the need for a barrier vehicle.

The Dellner coupling fits onto the existing coupling hook:

Are you going via Stenson Jct and Stoke? You must be the first regular freight through there for a long while.

no it’s wcml to Lichfield then onto the high level to alrewas and wichnor, still a rare route for freight, certainly intermodals anyway

I used to live in Handsacre half way between Rugeley and Lichfield, and used to use Lichfield TV a lot.  I only once saw an engineers train using the WCML-South Staffs link in all the years I used the station.  Nice to hear it is going to be used on a regular basis although I think it does see some Voyager movements to and from Barton under Needwood off the WCML.

I nipped to Barrow to see you this afternoon Jim, in the poor weather. I waved as usual but don't think you saw me...

GBRf 66766 - 4F62, Barrow on Trent

I'll hopefully get out next week too.

Jack.

I did see you but my trainee fumbled looking for the horn so didn’t blow it until we passed!

First rule in operating ANY machinery = Where's the STOP button?

Second rule = where's the warning device (horn, whistle, etc.)?

Third rule = how to start this thing!

I must confess to liking the Police approach to taking a car on patrol - familiarise yourself with the controls and indicator panel before starting!
