RMweb Gold big jim Posted November 5, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 5, 2021 I thought the same thing, what with the intercity 86 in the background it could almost be the early 90s!

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted November 6, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 6, 2021 Just a few from tonight Joy of Joy’s it’s that time of year again, Birmingham Christmas market, don’t look forward to travelling in by train while that’s on one from landor st, my train was following the northern belle from here, another great low light iPhone picture! And a still from a video I took, not very good so I deleted it and my train to trafford park, stopped in styal for a bit so stretched my legs and that was it, straight into a taxi home as I’m back in tomorrow daytime so couldn’t hang about doing a crewe to small Heath and the RHTT to kings Norton and into a hotel
RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted November 7, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 7, 2021 Some from yesterday, first job was crewe to small Heath this was the train in front of mine heading to Northampton my train got to Tyseley but due to an issue I ran it round and had to take it to bescot! tyseley Bescot I then rode into Birmingham and got a train to rugby to work the RHTT to kings norton have bike, will travel Birmingham international And into Kings norton And a ride back to the hotel, back in later to work it back out again!
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted November 7, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 7, 2021 Great pics as ever. Jim and I do love following your exploits. Hard to believe that these class 37s (albeit much rebuilt and refurbished) have been around for about eight years less than I have, and I'm four years past my State Pension Age. 2

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted November 9, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 9, 2021 Some from last night, conducting the trafford park job new st I only conducted it to crewe and got off and went home for a few hours and met it on the way back and into nuneaton same again tonight
RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted November 10, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 10, 2021 Unfortunately my driver couldn’t make it tonight so I had to work the whole trafford park job myself got to Birmingham early and as it was a nice mild nights decided to walk new st to saltley, considering I used to hate having to walk saltley to duddeston station I quite enjoyed the walk, 2.5 mile in total from the top end of new st station to the signal at landor st! moor st station Curzon street under wraps ready for HS2 you walk past ‘think tank’ which is the Birmingham museum, was hoping I could see the steam loco in there but I could only see these beam engines through the window Bit of low adhesion on the way down to the depot! And away i went to Manchester, these are the first pictures I’ve taken at trafford park with the new camera and they are a vast improvement over the old one pair of class 90s on the adjacent line as I ran round My loco and away back to nuneaton, had to wait in crewe for 20 mins to time to allow the sleeper to pass so jumped off and went to the messroom for a cup of tea And into Nuneaton day off today and road learning ‘a missing link’ on Thursday and Friday

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted November 11, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 11, 2021 Some from today, worked a train from crewe to peak forest rhen stayed on to learn up to hindlow a foggy crewe And into a foggy peak forest Into the new run round sidings in Buxton a northern unit passing by on the main line from hazel grove to Buxton The line to hindlow passes over the old chord from the line to derby (via Matlock) that went into the midland station at Buxton, it was occupied by peak rail until the 80s hence the water column And into a foggy hindlow (Briggs siding ground frame), given the weather today and the picture on the side of the loco maybe it should have had a fog horn fitted! Ground frame Complete with BR shelter once shunting is complete the token that releases the frame is put into the token machine nearby and the train is locked in, this is after the run round and ready to set back for loading Once the token was returned the DB shunter then spoke to the box and got release to get the token back out to let his train head back to Buxton after loading it was back to the frame for departure where we had to wait for one to arrive in And then away to Buxton to run round again, yet another train waiting to head up to hindlow Shunter’s van, the unsung hero’s of the fleet! And back to peak forest but dark by then so no pics, back to it tomorrow again to get it signed off

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted November 12, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 12, 2021 (edited) Some from today, another day up peak forest, met the train up there this time, had a bit of a wait so got a few pics while I was waiting 37 doing a bit of shunting Looking toward great rocks A GB service heading toward chinley Freightliner service heading toward tunstead DRS 66 heading toward the long siding Another 66 heading from the sidings That loco then went on to the train in the sidings and when we passed it a bit later on the DRS 66 from earlier on was on the rear of the train so I suspect it was stuck and was getting ready to be being multied up and banked from the sidings! And in rolled my train 37 through the arch And running round in Buxton again Passing 150 And up at hindlow, just handed the token back, note the old signal post I then headed back to peak forest to have a look round Rhen headed off to walsall to the hotel before the RHTT tomorrow busy week coming up, RHTT and peak forest jobs Edited November 12, 2021 by big jim

RMweb Gold big jim Posted November 15, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 15, 2021 Yeah, 6Z89 although I did think it was coming from small Heath! most likely 66709 again as that was knocking around bescot today. I was supposed to have my dad with me having a cab ride on it from crewe to hindlow and back to peak forest but unfortunately as there is no manager available we’ve had to put it off, I won the cab ride in a charity auction 2 years ago but with Covid I had to put it off until it was safe to do so, we’ll get it done at some point!
