Jim’s “out and about with GBRf” thread

Recommended Posts

Good luck for tomorrow Jim! I saw you today at Balshaw Lane Jn...had I realised it was you I would've waved but I was busy getting the camera to take a sharp shot in the gloom:

And a video powering up the slight gradient:

I'll try and get out tomorrow if I can.

Thanks,

Jack.

Some from today, tamper rescue mission on the Cambrian, loco hauled and otm’s Have been banned down there due to the condition of the track but can run with special permission, so with that we had to go and rescue a tamper that was stuck there since the ban was introduced

As it happened as I was watching the train I heard a voice shouting ‘jim’ and it was our very own Marcus37 who had been on the train all day having driven it from Birmingham international to crewe that morning and was enjoying a few beers while off duty and had been enjoying the Cumbrian scenery, he had a word and they let me travel back to crewe on the train, had a good chat with him and a few of his bosses and work colleagues from GBRf while I was on board, I actually ended up going through to Stafford in the end and coming back, also met up with forum members mark miller and CovDriver on board too

In all a good day, nice to get a little bonus treat at the end too

Some cracking pictures there Jim.   Is there any particular reason why it was double headed up to Carlisle and back through Warrington but top and tailed on the coast line.

They were double heading down the coast, they just brought one loco to the other end to pilot the train out the station itself, the other loco ran round somewhere else and they came back double headed.

Thought it was you that passed us at a Winwick on 6V38, we were in the field having just done the WCRC charter and hadn’t realised how early you were which scuppered the plan to go on the bank for a photo of you!

Hi Jim,

"Possible NMT trip to Hull tomorrow", I'll keep an eye on RTT in the morning to see if you do indeed go to Hull. If so, I'll do my best to pop along to Gilberdyke with the camera.

Regards, Ian.
