Yes the connection is bootle jn where you join the line from edge hill to seaforth, you normally go to marsh lane to cross over get back off if your coming from Sandhills but the points were out last night hence the trip to hall road

i need a conductor from bootle jn on that job as I know the rest but he gets on at crewe as the train also needs a brake test prior to departure and it saves having a shunter come out just to do that

Yeah I did see him, bloody mad being out that time of morning!

Definitely not the time for me to be out with the camera! He'd done the 92 on the sleeper and seen you weren't far away so hung on.

That's typical I'm rest day again and you come to my parish I was offered a Rest day worked and it would have been prepping those units on platform 4 at Coventry and some cross city work but I declined the offer over time.

Hi Jim

Thanks for all these great pics.

A query please - how do the empty wagon trains from the North get back into Mountsorrel?

Mountsorrel seems to be accessible only from the Down Fast and the last set of crossovers from the Up lines to the Down Fast before Mountsorrel seem to be just north of Loughborough station.

Is the Down Fast bi-directional all the way from Loughborough to Mountsorrel or do all the empties get routed round via Leicester / Syston Jnc?

They run from Doncaster to humberstone road in Leicester where it runs round and heads back north

when departing south the down fast is bi-directional for a short distance Towards sileby where they cross over to the fast or slow
