Mike
Well I have 2 types of bacterial infection in my ear, both types immune to the antibiotics I had been prescribed. I have now been given a new antibiotic which may kill the bacteria, so here's hoping as the last 3 weeks have been hell. The trials we go through to continue modelling. Barnaby
......... ............. ............. Is that the beginning of another story Mike, the other one was reely grate. Sounds very painful if not. Edited September 2, 2013 by Barnaby
David Siddall
And there's me fretting because my operating space could end up being reduced to 7' long :-/ Fascinating 'industrials' and great scenics in a super-compact space - real inspiration! David PS: I can vouch for the existence of Bumble Hole. It has it's own lock with a slightly 'ockud' approach from the bottom through an eponymous bridge on the Staffs & Worcester canal. If you like unusual place names it's not million miles from Stewponey Wharf ;-)
Mike
......... ............. ............. Is that the beginning of another story Mike, the other one was reely grate. Mike
Social history, Beatrice Joes cleaner remonstrates with young Kenneth for using Maggies notice board as catapult target practice, whilst Joe passes the time of day with John Brown. While over at the factory Sam takes a cigarette break, Bob leaves the office and Harold the Foreman awaits the next van. Maybe like all good Fairy stories it should start with "Once upon a time" However, now I've started believing all of this, well it is real isn't it? Mike
Now for the mundane, Legs fitted, they fold up under the baseboard for transporting, the display board hinges up and also acts as top protection and the front panel which will be covered in cork folds down. Lighting rig ready , just the painting of panels and tidying up then its ready for Warley. Spinners End will be at Redditch and Cradley shows before possible retirement. RMweb Premium DLT Posted September 6, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 6, 2013 That's a very neat transport and presentation setup Mike, does the hinged front-panel also act as a display board and barrier? All the best, Dave.
Mike
Thanks Dave, yes it will. However the display board will allow viewers (if there are any) to read from without having to stoop.
Barnaby
All very snug and cosy Mike yet very workable. Not sure if I missed it but when is it on show? Ahhh just spotted your visiting Telford tomorrow will your layout be with you, Checking my Guild guide doesn't list you so probably not this year. Barnaby
Start at the top and continue in that way. I'll look out for you there. Good luck. Regards
Mike
Just a few more gratuitous photos, waiting for a few bits to arrive so that I can finish the scenic.

Mike
Its foldup, fold down, hinge up and hold. Reely nearly ready, photos not showing lighting rig or drapes. Information sheets not fitted to the cork face front panel. Sunday was a day of play (testing) and what a joy with everything working including the under-board uncoupling magnets. The Reely Grate sign will be replaced with a photo-shopped enamel sign which will include signs of wear around the edges.

Barnaby
Mike if it is the one you want to purchase you will also have a very handy foldup box to keep it in too. When will you have finished painting that back gate. Regards
Mike
Hi Barnaby, that gate is the inside of the work shop and has been used as a back board for an awful lot of spraying over the last 30 years

Mike
Behind the scenes. Just thought I'd show you how the legs fold and lock into place. A simple arrangement for the lighting rig and an operators view. Time for self to set-up 5mins max and about the same to break-down. Simples, just like me:)
Mike
It had been my intention not to build a new layout over this coming year. However, I had thought about just a scenic diorama add-on to Reely Grate, but then.... why don't I build a workable micro layout that could be used as an extension to Reely. So here goes, I have roughly sketched out my idea but, have since changed the structures which really ought to reflect the canal with canal side factory, transhipment shed and foundry complex, anyway here's my original and modified thoughts. as the add says "what do you think?" switcher 1
Well I guess you will need something to do when you're not operating Reely Grate.
