Andrew P
The Cat can always give it a push, I had a garden layout many years ago and the Cat we had was a dammed nuisance, she kept chasing the trains around until she would knock them off. :nono: :nono: :nono: Andy
bescotbeast
Jocko loves to doze or watch me working with the soldering iron although he was paying a little bit to much attention to one of the test trains I did expect him to chase it but I think he was too comfy to get up......... Keep pottering away Andy Simon
bescotbeast
Well before coming out to work for a late shift I tackled that rather abrupt change in gradient that was causing me issues with my 44 and 47, I've extended the gradient by about 6" so that it now finishes in a much smoother transition on the lift up section and my 44 now ascends the gradient with ease and no derailments . I thought i'd take the time to show off the work on the area around my Glass factory, which now has a BR Type 15 design signal box ,the factory building now has it's windows partially fitted and I've added some yard lights. Thanks for stopping by. Simon.
Andrew P
That all looks good Simon, I am glad you have sorted out the graidient problems, there is nothing worse than having a loco that won't go all over the system. The buildings are impressive and I guess that they are ready for weathering soon. All the best. Andy
bescotbeast
Andy the fact that you spotted it yesterday made me take the bull by the horns, it was difficult ripping up what had took me hours to lay but looking at the improved gradient before work has made me glad I redid it. The buildings are starting to bring to life what I can picture in my mind I just hope I can do the weathering justice and I'll maybe have to pinch some of your ideas . bescotbeast
Two pictures to show the improvement I've made to my gradient transition and my Class 44 climbing the bank. The loco traverses the bank with no problems to report, obviously once I get some more stock fitted with 3 link couplings I'll need to work out a Freight train loads booklet for my layout so I can work "safely" Hope you enjoy the poor quality images. bescotbeast
Right time for another update as more track is down and some other associated bits have been added, the fiddle yard has started to take shape I've also added two working railway phones to the layout opposite each control panel to add to the operating realism also you can see the track descending the incline at the other end of the layout. and finally the obligatory "cat on the layout" picture heres Jocko taking in some shunting action with a class 24 Thanks for stopping by Simon Edited October 1, 2013 by bescotbeast
bescotbeast
Another day and another update, I've got a week off currently so I've been making good use of my time and cracking on with the track laying This is Pendeford wharf, a small freight location that was originally going to be a stabling point but I've decided as I'm going to be using Carcards I'd like another location to generate inbound traffic, so here is the end result a small two road goods location inspired in part by RiverCider of this parish and his photos of Beet nuts being unloaded form a Speedlink van onto the back of a flat bed lorry. Pendeford Sidings signal box and the Junction it will eventually control Pendeford sidings themselves starting to take shape, there will be 5 sidings once I'm finished. Thanks for looking Simon
bescotbeast
Well with the circuit now complete I thought i'd share a few pictures from my operating sessions, a few niggles have surfaced with some of my stock running poorly but otherwise i've had no issues with the electrics or track. A selection of locos passing or shunting at Hickmans Glass works. Simon

Cracking stuff! Al. Glad you're pleased with my progress Al, I've still yet to tackle scratchbuilding unlike yourself that footbridge you've modelled is brilliant and a rivetting read as you describe how you've tackled each project. bescotbeast
As promised a few more pictures now that I'm able to run trains. Pendeford Sidings signal box and the junction it controls. Water Column sidings now in use as a stabling siding. Two pictures of an AL5 on a trip working to Bescot Up Reception sdgs, waiting for the shunter to give the tip from the cabin . Meanwhile Jocko ignores the action and peers out of the window Thanks for looking. Simon
bescotbeast
Time for a long overdue update on how things are progressing with Pendeford sidings, well I've finished the track work withing the yard itself, added the tar distillers/chemical works in the corner by the window, added a few more lights and created my own version of Car cards and waybills. Ok here are the pictures Along the yard by bescotbeast, on Flickr Barnes card system by bescotbeast, on Flickr 9 board updated by bescotbeast, on Flickr T08 departs by bescotbeast, on Flickr shunting Midland Tar distillers by bescotbeast, on Flickr T08 returns by bescotbeast, on Flickr Office lights by bescotbeast, on Flickr Hope you enjoy the update. I was wondering what is the make of the larger of the two wharehouses in the background? Steve. Evening Steve, thank you for the positive comments, i'm currently doing some more additions to the layout which once i've finished i'll post up here for you to have a shuftie at. The larger warehouse of the the two is the Walthers Cornerstone River City textiles kit (3 put together) http://www.modeljunction.info/estore/product_info.php?cPath=25_34_42&products_id=47 no connections to the shop just a satisfied customer.
