Had a very nice nostalgic tour around the former Bletchley Power Signal Box today; a bit run down compared to my last visit some 48 tears ago!

Any photos please David ?

Unfortunately I didn't take my SLR Camera with me, but I did take a few "Snaps" with my Smartphone whilst visiting the Bletchley PSB. Not brilliant but better than nothing?

In the images above you can see reference to Platforms 7 & 8; Platforms 3 to 8 were subsequently renumbered to 1 to 6.

The original Platforms 1 & 2  served the Oxford Branch. Platform 1 was removed circa 1963/4 to allow access from the new concourse and Platform 2 became North & South Bays at the same time. The North End was last used for Royal Mail Traffic.

First commissioned in 1965, Bletchley PSB still looks a relatively modern building (to me anyway!) from the outside. It was not until I had entered the building that I began to realise that it was indeed a 38 year old building. I first visited the Box not long after it opened in 1965 as a 11 Year Old (my Father work at Bletchley Station and arranged the visit) and was delighted to be able to visit it just one more time. Climbing the several flights of stairs I entered the Signalling Room and my first reaction was that how much smaller it looked compared to what I remember as a child. Maybe it was a bit overwhelming to a young boy back then? Another thing that struck me was the unofficial "aide-mémoires" that were stuck to the control desk as seen in the 'snaps' above. Some of the sticky notices (Line Blocked) I suspect were applied during decommissioning.

A great memorable day.
