....we've been to Woody bay on numerous occasions...fabulous location and marvellous project....Lynton is a lovely place to stay and there are loads of great places to explore nearby...the coastal path walk from Woody bay to Lynmouth is as attractive as any.

The Oakwood Press video of the original L & B railway is a superb tribute to the line.

Great to see the pics of the gala trains.

Cheers

Dave

Hate to burst your bubble, but:

1) the L&B existed since before the start of the 20th century, it just had a massive long sleep :P

2) Lyd has been to Devon at least once, maybe twice or more, after completion (I think it was there in parts too, but can't say for sure)

Lovely photo's though

Should have had "reopening" in the title and now corrected. And connected to the correct coaches for the first time.  :O

...and that itself can be nit picked, as it will have been connected to no 14 (ex L&B no 15) on the FR...  whether or not the correct coaches were in the original form not being specified :-O

I'll get my coat.

Well I enjoyed the first photos of Lyd with the two coaches on their home line! ;) represents what it might have looked like as the Southern took over with the mix of liveries. Roll on more coaches Lyn and another MW based on the line permanently :)

Will be visiting in june. Some good shots on youtube too.

.....but those wooden seats may be just a shade too hard for me.... !!

If the profile is correct, slatted wooden seats can be quite comfortable, especially in hot weather.  Quite different from solid wooden (or aluminium) seats. I speak from experience of park benches in the late '70s when Barking Council replaced comfortable wooden slats with blocks of extruded ally.

The coaches do look lovely :good:

Afternoon All,

The least time that I was down that way was in September, 2006 and I have recently put the pictures that I took on Flickr.  If anyone would like to see them, this is the first one in the Photostream; clicking on it will enlarge it and take you to the others :

Alternatively, they can be found in the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Set which is in the Narrow Gauge Railways in England Collection :

Hope that they are of interest and you can find your way around the new-look Flickr.
