RMweb Premium Barry O Posted November 28, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 28, 2019 Spent last weekend doing a weathering" demo at Warley. Typically I show visitors a little bit of how I do weathering, then get them to try it and offer help and advice. An enjoyable (if somewhat tiring) weekend and our budding "weathering" visitors did a great job! A few examples of their and my work. Now two minerals, again with some rust - I need to clean some of their "rust on wooden planks" with a bit of ink/water on a cotton wool bud Then three off.. with just a touch of ink and water then coal dust brushed on while the ink is dry And some of my work. The start of some Coke Wagons (one Hornby the other a 3H kit built one). These need to be finished. And .. a Palvan Shock... As per a nice colour photograph. Not sure why the one end is so clean (repaint after a bump??) Thanks to all who had a go! Baz

RMweb Premium Barry O Posted December 31, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 31, 2019 Had a quick commission to do.. a Dave Alexander J27 client provided a lovely colour photo... so as I was all set up opportunity to sort out one of my NuCast ones. So time to finish some of the stock weathered by others at Warley and some parcels stock Have a great 2020 everyone! Baz
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted March 22, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 22, 2020 More POs (for me this time!) Another Loco is awaiting client approval so should appear here tomorrow. This has been renumbered, new nameplates fitted and the "add on" pack fitted. Baz
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted March 23, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 23, 2020 Commission work. Take a LMS Lined Black City of Manchester, fit the accessory pack, renumber and rename it (to BR City of London) then add a little bit of weathering. detail of the top of the boiler and the top edge of the tender sides... RMweb Premium Barry O Posted May 6, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 6, 2020 Next up.. a Hornby Rebuilt Patriot. On arrival I fixed a broken buffer beam and glued the spring hangers back on. Add On pack fitted , renamed, renumbered then weathered I do like Stanier Tenders but it would be nice for Hornby to redo the chassis on their version. The road dirt is a pain on this one. The colour photo I have worked from has the tender underframe in semi shadow..so I looked at some other photos of similar engines to make sure the underframe looks correct. Customer very happy. Next up.. goodness knows but this customer reckons he has a lot to do.. Baz
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted June 25, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 25, 2020 Next up is a "Super" 40 from Mike Edge for use on Carlisle (my customer with the Rebuilt Patriot is grounded at the moment so can't post items out).. so I fitted a Legomanbiffo Loksound V5 to it.. very easy.. just avoiding the large amounts of lead packed into it! Then, using a photo in Michael Welches' book "Diesels on the London Midland" of almost the right loco (D335 is pictured.. this is D334 Noticed I have omitted a bit of "cleaned but dirty " area at both ends of the yellow panel I shoudl manage that today... and side on.. Back to Mike for some final window adding etc... Baz
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted September 4, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 4, 2020 Strange one this.. I have refinished a Hornby A4 as "Merlin".. no idea where it came from but now sold on for a client Nice loco but those boiler cladding bands are far too big. RMweb Premium Barry O Posted September 7, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 7, 2020 a taster.. this "S" Scale Model of a North Eastern Railway Long Boiler has had a very light weathering..yes it is weathered but just to take the glossy finish off it.. only time I could photograph it was in sunlight.. Owner to collect.. Baz
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted October 8, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 8, 2020 Loco now collected by the owner.. such a beautiful engine! Hardly any weathering - just a very thin coat of ink and the odd bit of dust to show a loco in use... This is harder than doing a "heavy" weathering job! RMweb Premium Barry O Posted July 2, 2021 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 2, 2021 While I have continued to undertake commissions over the latest lock down my cameras (all two of them) have suffered meltdown.. seems like one has started to behave so here are a couple of things juts ready for delivery First a Hornby English Electric 350hp shunterstill a bit fuzzy.. and another view Hornby 08, photo used from a photo of two of these at Manvers Main colliery and a modified Airfix Brush Type 2 A1A A1A - almost new and photo was taken at Darnall Shed and the other side Lots of nice colour shots to choose from to do these! RMweb Premium Barry O Posted November 8, 2021 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 8, 2021 Recently been catching up with weathering for a couple of mates.. A couple of locos built and painted by Mike Edge and 04 and a B7 built from G Trains Etches Both painted by Mike. and a Fowler 2-6-2T from Judith Edge Etches and various other components built by @innocentman He painted and lined it.. then.. Closer view of the smokebox.. Baz 2
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted November 14, 2021 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 14, 2021 As seen in this months Railway Modeller on Paul Greene's layout "Blakey Rigg" something I gave a very light weathering to.. you have to peer at it ... but yes it is weathered! RMweb Premium Barry O Posted January 15, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 15, 2022 A scratchbuilt BR(MR) compound has arrived from Mike Edge for "gentle" weathering.. Now complete In reality the loco has no blueish tint but my photo handling software won't remove it. Baz
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted January 15, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 15, 2022 Managed to get rid of the blue tint! And another view A very nice loco with a special tender. Baz
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted March 6, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 6, 2022 lots of sound fitting has been going on interspersed with weathering and voluntary work in the cricket world. A colleague asked me to fit sound to two locos for his new O Gauge layout based on the Derwent Valley Light Railway.. easy for a Dapol Sentinel.. Interesting for an Ixion Fowler 0-4-0 DM shunter. Videos soon! Baz
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted March 31, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 31, 2022 And more recently sound fitted to a Heljan O Gauge Drewery 03.. D2111 for a layout of part of the DVLR. Easy to fit.. Then time to get small.. a Zimo MS480 fitted into a Judith Edge Kit , built, painted and decalled by Mike Edge. and a tiny bit of "work" weathering applied and a closer view of the other buffer beam The sound project is for a Peckett but its not too far away from the sounds of Number 41 at Tanfield.. complete with "peep" whistle! RMweb Premium Barry O Posted September 5, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 5, 2022 been busy with cricket so only little bits of weathering work done over the summer. I was asked by Mike Edge to weather a Ruston 48DS he has built from one of the Judith Edge kits. A colour photo was provided... one side on front on tother side on cab rear very dirty cab roof See it on Plymouth Friary Shed at Swindon (steam) Show on 10/11th September Baz
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted December 6, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 6, 2022 (edited) I lover exhibitions but with those and crickets matters I have little time to report updates. I have just had three locomotives returned from use on Carlisle to fit sound into.. City of Glasgow, Duchess of Rutland, City of Lancaster.. I know I weathered all of these but only two were photographed - typically its a green one(!) all 3 have Zimo MX chips and soundfiles from Digitrains. Speakers are under the "chimney" with plenty of sound. and to round it all off... I chipped a Midland Railways 2-4-0 for a friend in Wigan.. no sound but a lovely loco! RMweb Premium Barry O Posted August 24, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted August 24, 2023 Long time no speak... been busy but just weathered a couple of RT (Rob Thompson) NCB tippler wagons for a customer of Mike Edge. They have to be... dirty Inside as well as outside Baz
