rob D2
Hi, Thought I'd post a few snaps of this atmospheric railway area. I travelled up on the sleeper in summer '98 (must have had more money + time then !). None are technically sound, but taken on the 98 point and shoot. 37427 - an early EWS repaint and sleeper stock stabled for the day in the siding. 37409 - 'Loch Awe'. My traction on the sleeper both ways, and hence my favourite 37/4. This was just prior to leaving for Edinburgh. The depot at FW. Lots of evidence of the successful steam 'Jacobite' trains, local freight in the form of timber and those tiphook wagons for the Corpach paper works. Locos are 37152 in debranded intercity and 37410 'Aluminium 100' (I think, could have been 409 again). They were just being multied up together. Steam loco just arrived off the jacobite. That's the sort of atmosphere I was after. Bridge over the river just beyond FW depot on the line to Mallaig. Early morning mist. Just woken up on the way up, opened the blind and this was the view.Magical !! All the best.
