once dry you need to carefully rub off more PIR that has lifted

add some glue and some greenery

med_gallery_17883_3493_322790.jpg3639

keep adding more.....and some potted plants

med_gallery_17883_3493_183183.jpg3640

start the blending in process

Evening Jaz, some lovely modelling there, and I have the Masons Arms, as its my Mothers Maiden Name, but have you noticed that it doesn't have a Chimney, I see you have added a couple of Buildings and the one on the right that has a Chimney and that could be an out building.

Love the courtyard too.

Very nice.

Hi Jaz,

Forgive my flying visit, but I'm concerned over the head-pain episode. Way back in the seventies I was struck by a similar event. Very severe pain, so much so that my brother took me to our GP - out of hours. In those days it was quite common for GPs to run their practices from their homes, in this case a very nice Edwardian Mansion. My brother had the brass neck to ring the doorbell and the doctor took us in with no complaint. I must have impressed him because he gave me a very strange, brown, knobbly-pill. It was quite a high dose of morphine and I was OK very quickly. Migraine was mentioned - although he thought it a bit severe even for that - and I was told to come back if there was a repeat. The important thing is, though, it came out of the blue then disappeared from whence it came - never to be repeated! So there you go. :)

A while back all my railway stuff nearly ended up on ebay. At the time my RA hands were like red-boxing-gloves, unable to lift a cup of tea, plus the bladder thing I told you about had me climbing the wall. But things settled to a degree. The RA seems episodic and the other thing is under continued investigation. The thing is, I looked at my room full of naked track and came to a decision. I chose an area about a third of the oval, between two bridges, and decided that only that area would be developed scenically for just now. Furthermore, that I break it up into a list of modular pieces, each one of which had to be complete before moving on: - I've the very bad habit of half finishing things! And each module - being urban- consisted mainly of buildings, each of which had to be completely finished, too. All common sense, but there you go. One thing that has suffered, though, is my RMweb browsing. I love doing it, but realised I was spending a very long time involved with that, hence my current, very impolite, scanning of threads. It's not the same and I miss the involvement, but time is against me and achieving some demonstrable completion is crucial for my self-esteem if nothing else! lol

The Christmas comp seems great fun, and not surprising coming from your good self. However you've put everyone rather quickly in the shade by conjuring up a whole town-scene already! It will be interesting to see how everything - and everyone - shows up from now on.

Regards to you and everyone.

Tony.

Attacking a small part comprehensively does I think give you more awareness of achievement. Otherwise the surrounding area just screams not done....not done. So doing small area for the moment I think is a good idea.

I really sympathise with your hands, Sasquatch and I have had this conversation. My hands can become painful. I wassailing with them like rolled up fists. The doctor said it is causing problems similar to carpel syndrome squeezing the wrists. He sent me to appliances they gave me hand restraints ..yeah LOL I can see the eyes light up ;p.....they are to wear at night and help break the habit...and it is working. My hands are better in general.

But I am giving myself RSI too, especially using a basic mouse, but being left handed makes finding a decent right handed mouse really difficult. Al and the boys can share and swop purchases if they find they don't like them. And though I could buy one am concerned it would be aware if i don't get on with it....Kal says buy one and try...and I must.

I think there is also a possibility with my left them that I might have arthritis. I was border line rheumatoid arthritis several years back. It encouraged me to lose weight as the doctor said that would help. And the problem in my hips went. so losing weight did help. And the doctors all agree the NHS is crushed because over weight let alone obesity stresses your body, and much of the NHS billing would just disappear if British patients were not so fat.

So I have mostly broken the bad habit, don't wear the wrist braces at night all the time, I avoid making them sore, but that includes not cutting Wills sheets because that always becomes a pain. So a little and then drop it.

Also I have moved my computer closer to the edge of the table, because wresting my arms on the edge is not good either, and the mouse is to the left to stop me reaching too far. I sit on a non adjustable chair and should fix that, as I don't sit leaning again the back I could get a chair from the loft...in fact I'll do that today. The computer closer to me makes me lift my hands more and rest them in one place for long periods.

I have typed a lot through my life, as a secretary and a receptionist in the early days, in IT later, and just playing and browsing later.

The migraine seems to me to have been very severe, the doctor said after that a couple of days in ...it happened over the weekend...he would have given me something stronger, but now migralieve was coping with the pain....there was little need. But I have noticed multi tasking, something I did a lot without thinking, was a real struggle and is improving, I think I may have killed over a few brain cells and my brain is rerouting, not a stroke, and I am up and walking and talking. But I noticed the first couple of days a serious problem waling in a straight line, so I think my self pretty lucky.

Note to self ......stop balancing too many balls, let one drop occasionally not everything has to be done today.

And that was the point I was leading to.....a lo of people here on rmweb specialise, they follow a small part of the hobby, and find a niche for themselves. you do not HAVE to be good at everything. And fit it in around their normal life. So I slowed down instead of pushing through it, in case I made it worse.

My head still hurts a little, so its still there. And I just do the things that are easy, for me having painted and drawn since I was young they are skills I can do almost standing on my head to a level i am happy with. And there in lies another important point, you don't need if you feel you are improving, you should be happy with that you do NOT need to be the best. This is a hobby and should be enjoyed. And I do enjoy it, and I will only attempt one thing at a time that frustrates me.And move on to the stuff I find easier.......hmmm maybe a new graffiti wall LOL.

The thing is I enjoy learning new stuff, and often once done something i like instead of redoing it I explore another new idea. And not just here on rmweb.

I need a serious chill pill sometimes LOL.

Dressing this will seriously impact how you view it.

Also I noticed the best older looking resin buildings are often bakers.....how strange.....a coincidence obviously.....

anyway I need to go do more and improve stuff......see you later.....;p

Jaz,

I am not surprised that you found multi-tasking difficult.  The brain is like any other organ and only do so much.  If it is trying to cope with pain then it will not be as efficient as it usually is.

I think you are right about the chill button. This does not mean that you cannot or even should not try new things and try and improve, just relax and enjoy them.  There is no time pressure.  the trouble with a thread is that some people just want updates all the time, and ignore the fact that you are not paid to entertain people, and sometimes you can feel a pressure to produce the goods when actually you have other things going on.

Relax, enjoy yourself and let us know how things are going.

All the best.

Sorry to read more about your troubles Jaz, they rang a bell with me, too.

I suffer from what the doctors optimistically call "atypical migraine" which is a medical term for "we haven't a clue what's wrong with him"... :scratchhead: :scratchhead:

If I don't get enough sleep over a long period, or if I have too much stress, then I suffer what appears to be a stroke.

By that I mean that I have all the physical signs and symptoms of a stroke: loss of use of my right side limbs, loss of speech, loss of cognitive function, but it's not caused by a blood clot or other cerebrovascular event, it's purely electrical in nature.

It lasts for about 12 hours, and then I'm back to normal again. (HA, normal!!). It's atypical in that I don't have a headache through any part of the episode, and nor do I have an "aura" - normally migraine sufferers know that they are going to get an attack before it happens - It has always happened overnight, I just wake up in a morning in that state, and by mid-afternoon it's wearing off.

What struck a chord though, is that on the first day after an episode, my coordination is poor, my thought processes feel slow, and so on, just as you describe, and then I'm fine again until next time.

I manage it by ensuring I get enough sleep, and not letting things stress me out, but given the nature of my job, I probably have an episode every couple of months. However, when I was on the Ambulance Service, I was having 2 or 3 a month at one stage, so I'm a lot better now.

So, to sum up, I do, truly, know how you feel, and I sympathise, but the human brain has a marvellous ability to route around damage and even self repair to a limited extent, so don't go counting your brain cells yet :)

Cheers,

Al.

a decent side issue of the sanding is you make the road camber

med_gallery_17883_3493_94526.jpg3660

I keep the bits that are cut or sanded off for dressing later...

med_gallery_17883_3493_179318.jpg3661

and while the buildings are off I get a cocktail stick and mark the last of the lampposts

med_gallery_17883_3493_416124.jpg3662

and retouch the paint.....which here needs dry and where possible put the buildings back

med_gallery_17883_3493_306863.jpg3663

I use a pair of free standing figures to check the platform width as I want them reasonably narrow. Older buildings usually had just horse and carts to deal with and are often just one way streets in modern day. I don't have old signage....so may be forced to make some to get this done in time.

And I thank people for all the advice i got, I have changed my chair from a static one to a height alterable one lowered it to an absurd rate making me sit up straighter and my backaches far less...apparantly sat huddled over the computer is not good for you, and raising my arms as a result to type seems to help too.....

with the mouse to the side of the keyboard and not in front of it,,,that has helped with the shoulder pain.

Maybe the migraine was a good thing it made me look at my sitting position....maybe the poor posture etc brought on the migraine!!!!! :O

Still, am getting better, and improving somethings i just took for granted as i got a little older.

So thanks again.
