Hi Jaz - a proper start, this time.

The reason I pooped into your thread zis moaning - We were walking down one of the side streets in the town inside the walls in Caernarfon, saw this in the handmade chocolate shop window and thought of AVs fairground, so here it is, exclusive to Arboretum Valley.

more Orange River.......

I would have liked a close up of the wooden building (balsa) to the right but that spot never managed to free up for me to get in

med_gallery_17883_3195_461631.jpg3561

I wonder which one of us will be first to emulate the weather vane???

med_gallery_17883_3195_363560.jpg3562

being a larger gauge I am not familiar with where they source their bits and pieces but the cars were wonderful

med_gallery_17883_3195_425464.jpg3563

more of Davids work....with my brushes....inc broken ones...which have their uses.....

the micro brushes once the foam are torn off are very food good for making little white marking for feathers

med_gallery_17883_3149_86798.jpgrmweb3579detailing

another painted by David....but photographed on AV

med_gallery_17883_3149_45537.jpg3579

and as we were once again running out of time before he went home i painted his pigeons.....my forefinger for size

med_gallery_17883_3149_110455.jpg3580

and thumb and finger for clarification...these are very small...and you are just painting on grey with  very small micro brush (white) then using a damaged white one with no head to literally just dab the extra colours. Pink / green / black / white......we both tried to get our cameras, 2 proper ones and 3 apple 5 in total to get close detail, even his micro lens  :swoon: couldn't cope with stuff THAT small.....

There will be one last batch of the spalding 2014 pictures. A bunch of odds and ends and a couple of one or two pictures of some layouts that I did not manage to get back to to cover them properly. and some nice ones of detailing by one of the scratch builders.

My sister in law, has also kindly sourced me some white bugle beads and extra small white beads to help with the chandelier for Delboy. And there is a small amount of painting detailing to come thru. I'll try and load them up asap.

.....   Tom Lehrer I sincerely hope   ....... :O   ......

Spring is here, a-suh-puh-ring is here.
Life is skittles and life is beer.
I think the loveliest time of the year is the spring.
I do, don't you?  'Course you do.
But there's one thing that makes spring complete for me,
And makes every Sunday a treat for me.

All the world seems in tune
On a spring afternoon,
When we're poisoning pigeons in the park.
Every Sunday you'll see
My sweetheart and me,
As we poison the pigeons in the park.

When they see us coming, the birdies all try an' hide,
But they still go for peanuts when coated with cyanide.
The sun's shining bright,
Everything seems all right,
When we're poisoning pigeons in the park.

We've gained notoriety,
And caused much anxiety
In the Audubon Society
With our games.
They call it impiety
And lack of propriety,
And quite a variety
Of unpleasant names.
But it's not against any religion
To want to dispose of a pigeon.

So if Sunday you're free,
Why don't you come with me,
And we'll poison the pigeons in the park.
And maybe we'll do
In a squirrel* or two,
While we're poisoning pigeons in the park.

We'll murder them all amid laughter and merriment,
Except for the few we take home to experiment.
My pulse will be quickenin'
With each drop of strych'nine
We feed to a pigeon.
(It just takes a smidgin!)
To poison a pigeon in the park.

Ah Julian, you have reminded me.  On my iPod (which demonstrates a decidedly dual or even triple personality) is a best of Lehrer.  Another favourite, apart from an Irish Ballad is Be Prepared.  I won't bore you with the whole song, look it up, but the payoff line is wonderul:

So if you are looking for adventure of a new and different kind,

And you come across a Girl Scout similarly Inclined

Don't be worried, don't be frightened, don't be scared,

BE PREPARED!

You got the wrong bird....

What you need for the pic, is this...........

A Honey Buzzard

What they eat

Mainly insect larvae of wasps and bees

Queen Victoria was not amused by all the sparrows causing a nuisance inside the Crystal Palace - shooting at them simply broke the glass.

She asked the old Duke of Wellington's advice about getting shot of them.

"Sparrowhawks marm"   he replied. :)
