Class 37 Photos...

Recommended Posts

Back in 2009, red and maroon 37s prowled the railways. Clicking the pic will take you Flickr.

To mark the end of the 2009 'Summer Saturday' loco hauled services for First Great Western, a pair of 37s took the place of the regular class 67. Recently repainted DB Schenker red 37670 'St Blazey T&RS Depot' was partnered with former Royal Scotsman 37401 to work 2O72 from Bristol to Weymouth and 2V67 return. Seen during the stop at Westbury on the outbound run, with a long serving Westbury driver and the 'Westbury Traincrews' head board. Enough Westbury for one sentence?

West Yorkshire was visited by two class 37s on 15th September 2020.

DRS 37716 worked 0Z91- 0Z93 between York Parcels Sidings and Bradford Interchange, presumed to be on route training/refreshing ahead of the start of the Autumn rail head treatment trains.

Here is 0Z91 at Brighouse...

and later in the day, 0Z93 approaching Heaton Lodge East Junction...

The photo of 0Z93 was taken at Colne Bridge on the Huddersfield line where I had been waiting for Locomotive Services D6851 (37667) which was returning to Crewe from Hull as 0Z38.

37610 is probably the most photographed 37 of the month I suspect as it has been chuntering up and down and Coastway West and tonight, the Arun Valley on route learning duties:

37219 dashes through Pulborough with the 09:31 Woking Up Yard - Woking Up Yard via Littlehampton. 9th September. Presumably carrying out some track recording in preparation for future engineering works. This is the first time I have seen a 37 here.

Hi,

Its carrying out Signalling Design surveys using Omnicom Engineering PVP Video and Laser equipment (the big thing mounted on the front).

I’ve just received the data from that run (and another run that was also photographed in this thread) so I can draw some base plans for some signalling works.

It’s reference to my post on the previous page about the equipment on the front of 37219 that records the track

i had a job one evening recording A couple of areas on the wcml with it but the engineer in charge of the machine didn’t have a cable to connect it to his laptop, fair dos though he knew his stuff and tried to lash one up from a couple of USB cables and he got it working when static but it didn’t work once on the move!

Parked in the old goods bay platform at Barnham today which was a very unusual sight.  The only locomotive I can recall ever seeing a picture of on the blocks there was the Bulleid Leader....

No headlight lit

I had that loco a few months back and the headlight was dodgy then too, the in cab indicator said it was on but it wasn’t, a quick thump of the light cluster with my fist and it soon came back on

More b/w negative scanning under way.

Here is 37904 at Didcot in 1989.  I find it difficult to believe photos such as this are now over 30 years old.
