37417 Carne Point 1991 by Richard Davies

37 Interloper

Sorry, but that’s not Carne Point. The caption for this image on Flickr correctly states:

“37417 sets back its load of empty CDAs from Carne Point into the Rocks sidings. The roof of Goonbarrow Junction signal box is just visible in the background.”
Carne Point is on the Fowey river and is where china clay is loaded onto ships for export.

On 7th October 2021 Rail Operations Group 37510 Orion at Ravensthorpe with TransPennine Express (TPE) Nova 3 set TP08 in tow, working 5E16, Longsight to Scarborough Traction Maintenance Depot.

Here's a view of the non-Driving Trailer end of TP08 (coach 11508) in case the weathered detail, normally hidden by the coupled class 68, is of future use to anyone wanting to weather their forthcoming @Accurascale Fran  TPE Mark 5.

What are the boxes on either side of the end, please? They look like the anti-override blocks the Great Central experimented with, but I'm sure they aren't.

The anti override blocks would be lower I expect if they were there, AFAIK they need to correspond with the block on the opposing stock. Note on the driving end has its blocks directly above the buffers which is where they are on most things.

Any reason why the 37 is pulling the TPE by the DVT - connection issues at the other end?

37 241, Paddington, 29th June 1983. I don't know anything about the working unfortunately.

I can't remember where the train originated but I do remember it was a Didcot driver bringing it into Padd, we used to secondman him on the light engine move down to Old Oak so he could have his break.

Passing northbound on the west coast main line at Nettle Hill, an old train spotting haunt of mine back in the late seventies, on Friday evening around half five I took my son there and what should pass but a Europhoenix 37, this is my son's photo, his phone is better than mine!

The last pic actually has 2x 37's, 2x 08's, & a 31 in it, who would have believed that would happen in Great Yarmouth !!

Cheers,

Phil.

Never thought I'd say it but after riding on the Aventra units a few times I'm actually sad to see the 315's go!

ROG's 37611 was commandeered today to haul a 5+DVT rake of MK4s, in the livery of the short-lived Grand Central west coast project, from Doncaster Works to Eastleigh Works, presumably for a new lease of life after a lick of paint.

Photo by Trevor Collins : D6749 at Kings X in 1965....

As an aside I've often thought that 1965 would be 'a good year to model' in almost any location in the UK, with (pretty much) green diesels everywhere and oodles of steam era infrastructure abounding.
