Class 37 Photos...

Recommended Posts

Love the pictures, they are a perfect source of reference for my modelling era. Are there any more to share?I don't think I am the only person that would enjoy them!

Thanks. I posted most of them on this thread a few years ago. I still have a few more to be scanned. They are mostly BRBlue/LL Blue West Highland 37s and Inverness 37s during the steam heat years 1981-1985..

I'm also seriously thinking of returning to modeling this period as it has so many happy memories.  37191 is a favourite as it was the loco that hauled our train from Fort William. The return journey from Mallaig was delayed almost an hour because the connecting ferry was late due to bad weather. Of course, this was the last week in August 1984, typical weather for the West Highlands.

Great pic' Dave thanks for sharing, i'd forgot all about that seeing that loco' and that livery! It was quite a shock seeing it back then for the first time, was a great change from the boring Blue.

The nearest 37 is 019 i think! I have'nt a clue what the other split header was! Seen at SP. depot Wigan 1986. All the 25's and class 40's had gone by then, replaced by 20's, 31's, and 56's. but these two were still a rare sight.

Is the Bachmann 37401 accurate for her livery on the West Highland? Or is it the current version its in? Just considering a purchase so thought I'd ask.

Also I have to ask, how do you feel about me saving your photographs, not all of them, to my hard drive? I ask because I have taken a few, mostly the large logo 37/4s on the west highland, for prototype information, just so I don't have to go through 50+ pages of this thread just to find the photo I want isn't there anymore. I will stress I have no intention of replicating a photograph online if I can't remember who it comes from and I'll happily get rid of them if you so wish.

With station duties complete the pair make a spirited start.

The barriers evident by the track in the last couple of photos marks the location of an extension to the platform, work for which has just started.

I agree that 37401 is in it's correct guise for the WHL back in the day. I recall some being disappointed that it wasn't the current version.

I'm happy with the original and also considering buying one.

You are welcome to save any of my 37/4  photos to your hard drive. Here's another one for you. 37407 at Glasgow QS.
