Some of you need re-education yourselfs.

He could likely be someone who is totally fine in person but has learning disabilities who is attempting to communicate in text as best they can. Anyone with a Brain cell can figure out what he's saying and therefore in my eyes communicating effectively.

The real ignorance is from yourselves.

See also the feedback for foden19652012 who seems to bear a remarkable likeness to paulfoden472012

I agree, probably the same individual. I like the feedback that say "not a very nice person says he know's were i live, wants payment by card not ppal"

There really was no need for that.

Most of the posts about the vendor in this thread have been about his (I'm assuming) allegedly less than professional actions. I took Colin's post to be about his frustration that the vendor won't take Paypal and not how the messages were put together.

I don't see any difference between Ebay and a regular bricks and mortar shop. Hard earned money is changing hands. If you are going to sell items on Ebay you should be as professional as possible about it for yourself (you may get a better price for you item), and others.

I'll get off my soapbox now.

Ebay is for both shops and individual sellers just getting shut of stuff. I was referring to earlier posts. I'm just as bad it's me that started this thread cause I was getting idiots on eBay and more since. One person is I asking me questions that can be answered by looking at photos and the description which are very clear. It is beyond me someone can search for "Hornby class 90" and then ask me "is this a Hornby class 90" to which I reply yes. Only to get another reply back asking "defiantly the Hornby one ?" "What about the move ability share ?" WTF IS A MOVE ABILITY SHARE !.....

I think I will reply by saying no sir this is a bathtub made by Bachmann Europe the leading grass cutting specialists like the Hornby one and has a shared mobility of 90 as you can see from the description.

Completely off topic now.

There's a town an hour away from here called Frank. In the 19th century Frank was a coal mining town, as was the rest of the Crowsnest area. Unfortunately Frank sat underneath what the First Nations called the shaking mountain. In 1903 there the front face of the mountain came crashing down, covering half of the town or Frank before it flowed like water 2km across the valley before coming to a rest half way up the other side. Once the townspeople had realised what had happened, they suddenly remembered that there was an express train full of people timetabled to come through the pass at speed, and a man and a boy were dispatched to try to stop it before the disaster doubled in size.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Slide

Today, the town of Frank was moved (though some say it is still in danger), and Crowsnest Pass is a beautiful way of getting from the Canadian Prairies to the coast via the snow capped mountains of the Rockies. The pass is also the southern route of the CPR that travels on through Fernie transporting coal, grain, wood and other merchandise to the port of Vancouver and beyond.

Now, a friend of mine, who has lived in Frank all of her life tells me that that the number one thing tourists used to say when they came into her shop was:

"Isn't it amazing that all of those millions of tons of rock, some boulders as big as houses, can come crashing down the mountain and completely miss the railway and the road?"

Just harking back to those who may have reading/writing/learning difficulties, there is an RMweb member who clearly does have problems, but if you read his questions carefully enough it is clear that he is sincere, and his questions are rational and deserve answers, which I hope he gets. As his era is very different from mine, I'm unable to be of much help. Contrast that with a number of others for whom upper case is too much trouble and punctuation just so yesterday, but their use of English is such that they clearly have no problems beyond attitude.

...and the REALLY nice thing is that, AFAIK, not one single member has attempted to extract the small-small, nor made unsuitable/ignorant/disparaging comments in the time I have been a member, and frequently offer whatever help they can - I think all our members deserve a pat on the back - well done guys (and thank you from me)

"Collection only". "Please note this item is COLLECTION ONLY as it is too large and bulky to send". "Collection only from North Norfolk, no postage".

This is usually followed by "How much to send to Cardiff?"...

You do wonder why you bother sometimes... Pete.

Edit: Feel free to substitute Cardiff with Portsmouth, Exeter, Kings Lynn, Macclesfield, Liverpool, Carlisle, Perth, Aberdeen, Belfast or Waterford before I'm accused of being Cymrophobic...

Exception that proves the rule:

Experience informs me that a polite request to the seller (for an item that would otherwise remain unsold) suggesting that there are services on their doorstep that are a lot more efficient at handling bulky packages than P@rcelf@rce (oo err, that's gone clickable) led to a sale and a package being sent.

In business everything is negotiable.

When it comes to typos on Ebay, that can create a bargain if you find it.  The inability of some sellers to accurately copy "Fleischmann" from the box has given me a few bargains in the past.  There are a couple of online tools that can help find these typo bargains.

I agree, I found an old GNR document (below) from 1895 for about 10GBP because someone couldn't spell Wainfleet correctly - even though they tried three different spellings, and the name of the town was actually written on the document itself (albeit not printed).
