Af 4.00pm on the same day EWS 66183 with the West Burton Power Station - North Blyth, aproaches Newsham South level crossing.

Sad to think that in 1961, the Port of Blyth held the record for coal exportation of almost 7 million tons!

Today coal is imported and loaded at the spendidly named 'Battleship Wharf' facility at North Blyth, close to the Alcan loading facility.

At least we are still able to see coal trains heading south to power stations.

Yesterday afternoon a very colourful Gbrf 66720 arrived at Battleship Wharf, North Blyth. The coal loading facility is very simple, just one track and a run-around.
