66427 working 6C59 Mountsorrel-Carlisle with 20 well loaded MRAs passing Horrocksford Junction today.

About 5 minutes later Cal.n wandered past.............

First time this train (under other headcodes) has run via the S&C for quite some time.

Let's see if it turns up again later this week.

Train came to a stop North of Appleby with severe flats on the 10th wagon, skates fitted and 5mph restriction for rest of journey to Carlisle. Passenger services  cancelled / cut short

(Thanks to Scorty via Derek!)

Hi Tom, cracking pictures as always.

Just wondered, I live near Crewe, whereabouts do you go to get the pictures in Coppenhall?

Cheers in advance

I've only just seen this sorry,

If you paste these co-ordinates into google maps it should show you.

Hi all,

Here is 66565 passing Dyce while working empty autoballasters from Keith to Millerhill yesterday (Sunday 15 October 2017).   Unusually, the 170 seen to the right on an Aberdeen to Inverurie service worked into platform 2 and the freight came through platform 1, thus passing on the right.   A second unusual feature was the lack of a loco at the rear of the train.

Thanks,

Bill

What would cause flats in this case?   (and how would the driver be aware?)  ((and are skates carried as standard or did they have to be obtained from somewhere?))   Sorry, so many questions.

Thanks,

Bill

Skidding !

Not sure if the driver was aware or if the box stopped it.

Skates have to be brought to the site.

And 66565 was working 6K56

On Monday 6 November the stone to Brandon from Peak Forest was unable to gain access to the sidings due to a points failure, so it was sent to Norwich, initially the idea was it would run round and return and the point would have been fixed but this didn't happen and it stayed in Norwich for a couple of days, eventually leaving on Wednesday morning.

Annoyingly I only spotted the initial diversion to Norwich after it had well passed by local station so I spent the next two days glued to the signal maps waiting for a departure.

On Tuesday night the path appeared for a Wednesday morning departure, fortunately it was running just over an hour late so there was some light around to catch it.
