66136 is sat atop the Exeter traffic at Whatley, waiting time to depart. This would depart as 7C19 for Westbury, where either a Colas class 70 or, more likely, a class 59 would go on. 2017 and 2018 saw Colas subcontracted as required to haul the Exeter stone from Westbury and back again some weeks.

The end is in sight for 4V31 London Gateway - Bristol Freightliner Terminal which is waiting in Parson Street station for 43015 to pass, Bristol and ultimately London bound. Once the HST is out of the way, the signal will clear allowing the driver to get 4V31 across from the Down Main into the Freightliner depot.

66774 peels off to the right at North Somerset Junction, Bristol, working a diverted 6V32 Tilbury - Trostre. The diversion via Chippenham and Bath was due to the route via Bristol Parkway being shut for electrification work.

Exciting name on the side of 66162, the fifth engine to be painted in Maritime blue by DB. Stabled in Westbury yard next to the blue Burngullow JNA set. The misty drizzle in the air gives a nice glow to the floodlit sky.

...is what is written inside the cab of the pink one! Freightliner's 66587 'AS ONE, WE CAN' (yes it's all in capitals, is Freightliner shouting?) is stabled in Westbury at the head of 7O35 for Fareham.

Well I hope everyone has had a great Christmas,I’ve had flu most of it but managed to drag myself out for a bit this afternoon for a bit of fresh air and catch up with the 12.03 Doncaster to Liverpool Drax empties biomass passing through Todmorden,i would have got better pics from the other platform but a passenger train was due,so this has to do,which was a shame considering the consist,I expected a class 60 but ended up with 3 class 66’s,66730 ‘WHITEMOOR’ leading with 66779 ‘EVENING STAR’ and 66773 ‘PRIDE OF GB RAILFREIGHT’tucked in behind

On my way to Hensall on 31st December 2019 to grab a couple of photos of the blue & grey HST heading south with 5L46 - photos here;

I called in at Whitley Bridge to see if there were any Drax biomass trains in the vicinity...

 

GBRf 66759 shortly after setting off with empty bogie hoppers - 6N45, 07.30 Drax AES to Tyne Coal Terminal.

 

 

Followed shortly afterwards with 66773 almost at journeys end with 6E36, 01.55 Liverpool Biomass Terminal to Drax AES.

31-12-'19. 1.00pm. Dropping my eldest off at Newton le Willows station when this 66 came through in the weak winter Sun, it's been posted on here a lot lately but finally i've seen 66 773 in real life, so another 66 kopped and underlined in the shed book, it's like being 12 years old again.  Only another about 200 to go then.

A couple of light engine movements along the Calder Valley on 2nd January 2020 produced the following through Brighouse;

 

GBRf 66773 'Pride of GB Railfreight' with 60096 heading east working 0D01, 09.59 Tuebrook Sidings to Belmont Down Yard.

 

 

Followed about an hour later, heading in the opposite direction, 66712 'Peterborough Power Signalbox' with 66745 'Modern Railways the First 50 Years' working 0G66, 11.34 Doncaster Down Decoy to Tuebrook Sidings.

Not exactly a taxing load for a class 66.  Freightliner 66596 heads east approaching Heaton Lodge Junction on 8th January 2020 with 6E53, 09.20 Crewe Basford Hall to Hunslet Yard, Leeds.

Here is 66131 at Newsham, Northumberland this afternoon with a North Blyth - Tees Yard coal train. The coal is destined for Tata Steel in South Wales.

Just as the heavens opened, 66162 pauses at Eastleigh with 4xxx Didcot TC to Eastleigh T&RSMD, conveying a short rake of WIA car carriers, presumably for repair - 21.12.2019

GBRf 66756 'Royal Corps of Signals conveying former LNER Mark 4s and a couple of DVTs as 5Z19, 08.47 Worksop Down Yard to Widnes Transport Tech, through Brighouse on 3rd February 2020.

 

 

I understand that the former LNER vehicles are to be used by Grand Central in their forthcoming Blackpool North-London Euston open access service.  Depending on how many vehicles Grand Central are taking, this could be the first and last time that Mark 4s head along the Calder Valley.

3-2-20. After a few months away i returned to Crow Nest Junc' Hindley today,  66 015 came through at 2.13pm on the Tees to Knowsley, i was told its been the same loco' on this train for the last three weeks.

GBRf 66709 'Sorrento' heads along the Calder Valley at Brighouse on 4th February 2020 with another load of biomass - 6E09, 07.11 Liverpool Biomass Terminal to Drax Power Station.

 

Looks like I was a bit premature with my 'first and last' comment yesterday about former LNER Mark 4s along the Calder Valley!  On the 4th February 2020 66763 'Severn Valley Railway' heads another 'short set of Mark 4s plus DVT' as 5Z18, 08.59 Doncaster Works Wagn Shops to Crewe CS.

 

I'm assuming that they're going for storage there prior to onward movement at a later date to Widnes and refurb/repaint for Grand Central.
