RMweb Premium Claude_Dreyfus Posted August 25, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 25, 2020 (edited) 66740 heads the 6G11 09:02 Eastleigh East Yard - Dorking across the Arun flood plains - 22nd August. A bit of an odd situation with this one. It was due through Pulborough at about 10:00 that morning, but was running just under 5 hours late at this point. I was tracking it on RTT as far as Havant, when it seemed to stop. A consult on Open Train Times (which is usually reliable) showed that it had been diverted up the Portsmouth direct, so I thought no more about it. I was actually after another engineers train when this one turned up, but I am not sure how it turned back and then found its way back long the coastway without a couple of run rounds (Guildford and Havant?). Rugd1022
The Small Heath service is one of our new jobs, on the first day it ran I was on it, the shunter and I got it into Small Heath about half an hour early (after running round in the dip at Tyseley) and sat there for hours waiting for the digger driver to arrive and unload the train....... he never turned up, he wasn't told about the new flow, so we ended up leaving the wagons there and I went light engine back to Landor Street and got relief....!

RMweb Premium newbryford Posted September 20, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 20, 2020 (edited) Another Avonmouth service - this time it's 66774 in charge of 6M90 empties to Clitheroe Cement works on 19/9/20. Slowing to a stop at signal DS9 at Langho as it was hard on the heels of the previous passenger service and the block from Langho to Clitheroe is longer than Daisyfield Jn to Langho. Steadfast
I've put a few recent 66 pics on Flickr, including the southbound loaded working of Mick's previous post. These are all from Flickr, so click if you want to make them bigger! 66206 6C03 Horfield / Lockleaze by Steadfast Fotography, on Flickr 66206 struggles up Filton bank between Horfield and Lockleaze with 6C03 Northolt - Severnside waste train. This train was only half loaded and it was still hard work! 66006 6C03 Crofton by Steadfast Fotography, on Flickr Under stormy skies in a lucky patch of sun, 66006 leads 6C03 Northolt - Severnside bins past Crofton in a view that until recently was overgrown. Red 66115 was on the back. 66002 Westbury Down Yard by Steadfast Fotography, on Flickr 66002 pauses between shunts on a hot summer day in Westbury Down Yard, with a single Balfour Beatty TRM attached. 66567 4M99 Cholsey by Steadfast Fotography, on Flickr 66567 dodges the shadows as it passes through Cholsey working 4M99 Southampton Maritime - Trafford Park. 66303 4V44 Badgeworth by Steadfast Fotography, on Flickr Former Fastline Freight (remember them?!) machine 66303 now in DRS' current simple livery passes Badgworth working 4V44 Daventry - Wentloog Stobart / Tesco service. 66175 6V92 Badgeworth by Steadfast Fotography, on Flickr After a quick dash for some food, we were back in time for 66175 'Rail Riders Express' which was running a little early working 6V92 Corby - Margam empty steel train, seen passing Badgeworth near Cheltenham. 66774 6V84 Badgeworth by Steadfast Fotography, on Flickr A mere seven minutes behind 6V92, 66774 passes Badgeworth working 6V84 Clitheroe - Avonmouth loaded Hanson cement with a nice mix of JPA bogie tanks and PCA four wheelers. Jack374
There have been a couple of 'Shed' workings of interest through Derbyshire in the last few days. The first was Freightliner 66553 topping DRS 66425 on the DRS-operated 4E49 Daventry to Doncaster Marshgate 'Tesco's'. The southbound working from Tees Dock had failed that morning so 553 dragged 431 (the failure) onwards, and presumably worked the return to re-position 553 in the North East. This is only the second time (from memory) that something other than a DRS operated 'Shed' has worked these trains, the other occasion being 37218! I doubt a single tractor would cope now, as the trips load to 40 flats, usually mostly loaded too (39 boxes in this shot)..... ...And again at Barrow on Trent, on Monday the 6K50 Toton to Crewe trip produced 4 'Sheds' in 4 colours from 2 different operators. Pink ONE 66587 led Freightliner Green 66554, DB 66044 and Maritime 66051... (All pics are my Flickr links, click for more info) The modern railway is nothing if not colourful. Jack. 16
