Trimley this morning....

21-94a

Discovered this morning that the remaining areas where you could get photos of trains on the North Terminal branch from Trimley are now all fenced off with "construction work" in progress, so it's now a total dead loss for photos there. A huge distribution warehouse type building was looming over the trees in one spot, something that wasn't there 2 years ago and it doesn't even appear on a supposed 2021 Google Earth image!!

I took a chance and went out to Rounton Gates, at 8pm, last night as there was a quite rare Sunderland Docks to Cardiff working. 66152  appeared in failing light

Then the sun reappeared for a low lit shot of 66424 on the Tees Dock Tesco and 66759 on the last Drax-Tyne Dock empties of the day....all in the space of 20 minutes. Result.

Two consecutively numbered sheds at Wembley last Wednesday - I'd just brought up 6M51 from Battersea with 604 and one of our Reading chaps had brought 603 up from Paddington with another train, I was about to combine them together then run top 'n' tail to Rugby as 6Z89....IMG_0150.JPG.7af287e1d96ffacea7137e203e4d342c.JPG

On 10th May 2021 around lunchtime, four freight trains (1x60 and 3x66) within the space of 25 minutes through Brighouse.  Also during that time four seasons worth of weather added to the entertainment!

At the tail end of a shower, DB Cargo 66158 powers through Brighouse with 6M16, Tees New Yard to Knowsley Freight Terminal, empty binliner...

...followed a minute later, now in bright sunshine, in the opposite direction by GBRf 66710 'Phil Packer BRIT' slowly passing through the temporary speed restiction, with 6E09, Liverpool Biomass Terminal to Drax Power Station, loaded biomass hoppers.

Then, heading west along the Calder Valley towards Brighouse and with another heavy shower threatening GBRf 66746 with 4M17, Doncaster Down Decoy Yard to Peak Forest Cemex, empty aggregate hoppers.

From about 1100 onwards the coast was completely free of cloud for most of the time, though there was quite a stiff breeze coming in off the North Sea.

Not bad to be able to see 17 freight trains in 5.5 hours, plus the hourly passenger run to/from Felixstowe.

... and a few minutes earlier passing through Brighouse (thankfully just after a heavy shower!).

On 18th May 2021, GBRf 66735 'PETERBOROUGH UNITED' approaching Ravensthorpe with 6Z40, 05.12 Mountsorell GBRf to Bredbury Tilcon GBRf, loaded aggregate hoppers.

A slightly out of the ordinary working this one as the regular loaded aggregate flows for the various sites around Manchester are usually sourced from the Arcow Quarry on the Settle & Carlisle line.

I have a few class 66 photos, but not too many as I tended to give up photography just after they were introduced.

Here is 66022 somewhere near Knottingley early in 1999.
