Class 66 photos

Recommended Posts

66743 running south through Bucksburn, Aberdeen, earlier this evening with the Royal Scotsman. Heading for an overnight stop in Dundee, having left Aviemore at lunchtime. The sun was going down just behind the train, so a slightly tricky shot. Not that we should complain about sunshine in Scotland....

Thanks

Interesting sleeper train, Taunton to Doncaster....

4E18 Taunton - Donny runs in connection with the Track Renewal Train from Taunton. The train replaces the sleepers, so 4E18 takes old ones away from Taunton, with the return service bringing new ones back. Odd to see new sleepers on there, unless they're spares perhaps.

It's an impressive sight to see the whole TRT.

Freightliner heaven at Southampton last evening...

Edit - For those who like such things. 66540 (on left) was waiting to work 4M79 to Lawley Street, 66520 (in top background) had arrived on 4O57 from Wentloog and 66539 (in centre) had worked 4O35 from Basford Hall. The containers on the right were the rear of  4E96 to Leeds (worked by out-of-shot 66551).
The two stabled Class 66s in the centre are 66562 and 66505.

The unique GBRF Evening Star has been on the Avonmouth Clitheroe run for a week or so, finally the sun shined today.....

The effort GBRF go to on their "celebrity" locos has to be commended and congratulated...

Isn't that the Penyfford working? It's a full rake of bogie tanks, the Clitheroe is usually 4x bogies and the rest PCA 4 wheelers.

66710 has been the regular Clitheroe loco

Oppps yes, North Wales not Lanchashire, think I got the Avonmouth bit right?

I was lucky I think it was the last run as 66778 seems to have been swapped now.

The diagram seems to vary so much between the two cement works.

Don't know about the Penyfford circuit, but the Clitheroe service seems to have the same loco on for many weeks at a time!

One from yesterday.

Bristol Blue:

Bristol Blue

No not the glass! DB's Maritime blue livery 66047 'Maritime Intermodal Two' sits in Westbury Down Yard with 40 empty Coalfish in tow, ready to go as 6W50 to Bristol West Junction. This was just one of many trains involved in the relaying work at Bristol East.
