Some railway junctions are well-known to enthusiasts; I've heard of this location many times but never actually visited. I was passing nearby and, despite the horrid wet weather, stopped to see a couple of trains pass. The spot is Clink Road Junction, on the outskirts of Frome.

Here we see 66617 taking the junction off the West of England line with the 1120 Allington to Whatley.

Two of our drivers from Rugby are currently long term lodging in Acton for some of the Merehead and Whatley jobs, their overtime is going through the roof, not surprising really as they've been down there for over two years ;)

I was in the same hotel as them the other month when I was working a ballast at Hampstead, one of them a former fastline collegue (Wayne W)

OT, but I thought HMRC only allowed two years, after which the location was deemed your usual place of work and thus expenses etc. couldn't be claimed/or would become taxable....

Which is what happened to me. I had to "leave" the East London Line project (and all its add-ons), Crossrail and the Barking Riverside project after 10 years. At the time I was unaware of this rule, and my employer had overlooked it, claiming that as I was working on several contracts in several locations, I was okay. Not so, HMRC submitted a claim for unpaid taxes, and to give them their dues, the company coughed up a sizeable amount to settle the tax bill, and an apology. So I had to make a quick exit from London (although I did retain a "remote" technical advisor role on Barking Riverside) and shifted to the North West Electrification project, making sure I left before my two years were up.

Another new livery, this time GBRf and a black main body side, raising awareness of prostate cancer.

Looks like 66721 has dropped onto this job again today.

Last time I saw it was on day one of lockdown WFH in March 2020. A quick phone grabshot as it was running an hour later than normal.

Although for some reason, the celebrity sheds never seem to last long on this duty, unlike the "normal" locos that can be on for weeks at a time.

I'm not a fan of this or some of the STRANGE Liveries they try out, I like a simple but Bold statement in a Loco Livery.

Yes I know what you mean and liveries like this are always going to divide opinion, i for one like the different liveries and repaints I suppose it keeps spotting interesting to an extent as well.

I like some of them .
I think the current low point for me is the NWT one , doesn't complement the loco shape and looks like something from 1980.

TBF though , we could have had 400 of these in BR blue , now that would have been tedious !

I agree. I preferred 66721 in this 'Bold statement' livery.

Large scale engineering works are currently taking place on the Arun Valley line - resulting in the line's closure for 10 days. A few engineering trains have been kicking around - I live close enough to the line to hear the horns and even the sound of the engines (if the wind is in the right direction!).

66555 sits just north of the Pulborough possession (mainly to protect the canopy rebuilding) - 18 August 2021
