Steadfast
A few recent ones from me through November, linked from Flickr so click them if you want to view them big. Grubby pair 66174 and 66111 work 3J93 West Hampstead Thameslink - Toton past Ampthill, between Bedford and Flitwick. We were in the area to collect an internet purchase, a few weeks later this working produced a 60! Oh for the two to have coincided... 66792, formerly a Swedish loco, passes Ampthill, between Bedford and Flitwick whilst working 6M54 Colnbrook - Bardon Hill. Not the most artistic of graffiti all over the loco. One of the original pair of 'low emission' 66s, Freightliner's 66952 leads 6Z57 Avonmouth Bennetts - Theale Foster Yeoman past Newton St Loe. The HHA wagons previously used for coal seem to be regulars on this working. When seen at Newton St Loe, this train was a good hour early, so I leapt in the car and managed (only just, mind!) to beat it to Dundas where the remains of the autumn colours work a treat. After its pause in Bathampton Loop, 66952 hauls 6Z57 Avonmouth Bennetts - Theale Foster Yeoman past Dundas. The leaves seem to be hanging on late this year. With its untouched EWS livery complementing the autumnal scene, the 22 year old 66106 passes Westerleigh at the head of 6C03 Northolt - Severnside 'bins', conveying waste from the London area for burning and generating electricity at the energy from waste site. 66721 'Harry Beck' in London Underground map livery leads 66751, 66725, 66798 and an RDT on 6O39 Westbury - Eastleigh, seen in the Down Yard before departure. Freightliner's pink 66587 'As One, We Can' sits on the Down Reception at Westbury having arrived with 20 Falcon and 20 Coalfish from Didcot East Junction as 6Y17. 66725 and 66798 are stabled to the right, having arrived earlier in the morning. LNER4479
A rare day 'inside the fence' for me today so apologies for any of this being 'old news'. Accompanying 803005 on delivery run to Craigentinny and I had to do a double take as we walked round to the train. Definitely a 'blast from the past'. Interestingly, neither of the guys I was with had any clue about the livery so I had to Google 'Railfreight sector liveries' to explain it to them. Turns out neither of them were even born when these liveries first came out!!! I'm getting too old for this job; time to retire.
