Class 66 photos

The latest class 66 to bolster the UK fleet (as if we need any more) is 66798, which was confused with 66796, although I think the consensus is it’s now 798 - the paperwork in the windows said so! Hauled to Eastleigh by 47749, seen at Peartree just south of Derby. Flickr links:

Today I saw the third EuroShed in 3 days, although a more common one now. 66791 leads Freightliner 66554, 66951 and EWS 66088 through Barrow on Trent on a 7Z45 Toton to Bescot trip. I’d no idea 4 would be on it, I fully expected 791 and a crane.

Must be the Weekend...

Thanks,

Jack.

One from my son

30 March 2021

Edge Lane Junction

66793 on 6E10, 11:15, Liverpool Bulk Terminal - Drax Biomass.

The 66 is being trialled on the LBT Biomass, it drags the train - and a 60 (60002 was on the back) - from the LBT to Tuebrook Sidings, the 60 then takes the train forward

A lunchtime outing on 31/3/21 to photograph the stone empties for a future project (Accurascale short HYAs)

66768 heads south with 6M37 Arcow-Pendleton loaded (After leaving the quarry about 90 minutes previously and heading up to Blea Moor to run round. (I mis-timed the pic)

And then I left Arcow, forgetting that 66715 "Valour" was northbound with 6S94 Wembley-Irvine china clay. A quick layby stop and jump out with the cam.

Back in the early days of class 66 operation in the UK, 66002 whines though Leighton Buzzard with a down Freightliner. Diesels under the wires on the WCML? Outrageous, it'll never catch on!

Routed via the Standedge Tunnel and Huddersfield on 2nd April 2021 as a variation to its usual route via the Calder Valley, DB Cargo 66039 passing through Deighton with 6E26, 11.28 Knowsley Freight Terminal to Wilton EFW Terminal, loaded binliner.

Freightliner 66610 approaching Bradley Junction on 3rd April 2021 with 6Z68, 08.00 Dewsbury Blue Circle to Hope (Earles Sidings).

Workings between Dewsbury Blue Circle and Hope (Earles Sidings) are usually scheduled via Wakefield Kirkgate - Moorthorpe - Sheffield, so this was an out of the ordinary routing that required the loco to run round the wagons east of Wakefield Kirkgate at Calder Bridge Junction.

The stone building to the top right of the second image is the former Bradley station that closed in 1950 and is now a private residence.

A couple of double headers today at Todmorden

Knowsley Freight Terminal to Wilton EFW Terminal 66001 and 66044

And Tees New Yard to Knowsley Freight Terminal 66039 and 66106

... and in reverse order at Brighouse, 6M16 - 66039+66106...

...and 66001+66044 with 6E26

Both were double-headed as the loaded workings from Knowsley are being routed through Manchester Victoria and up Miles Platting bank due to engineering work on the usual booked route.

And engineering work was presumably the reason that 6E10, 11.15 Liverpool Biomass Terminal to Drax Power Station was also diverted from its usual route along the Calder Valley and sent along the Huddersfield line headed, appropriately enough, by GBRf 66738 'HUDDERSFIELD TOWN'.
