hartleymartin
Check it out on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIIulLLbz1c Salvage Squad restore a 1918 Armoured Simplex Locomotive. I find that they don't always look like anything interesting in photos, but when you see it move, and hear the noise it makes, it just becomes so much more loveable. 2mm Andy
The Motor Rail featured on Salvage Squad is currently on display at an exhibition at the Dutch Railway Museum in Utrecht (link here). It normally lives at the Moseley Railway Trust's site at Apedale, Staffordshire, and will be returning to the UK later in the year ready to take part in an event next September to commemorate the start of World War 1 (details here), although it never made it to France before WW1 ended, and was subsequently used at a sewage works in Leeds. It has been and does get run occasionally (when the trust can afford the petrol - the 6 litre engine is just a bit thirsty!) and make a fantastic sight (and sound) when it runs!
